Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've used Sunset for a couple of things, but I didn't know if they were the best source for things like this.
Leading evidence: 'Use sunset' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use sunset' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I don't have a photo yet - I'm not in town - but I'll post one when I get back.
The previous owner of my 996 had a Sirius radio system installed, and he had a bracket installed to hold the unit. The bracket was similar to those used to hold mobile phones - a black arm that screws directly into a stable surface with 4 big screws.
In this case, the base was screwed into the passenger's side trim, just forward of the center console. It is the oval piece between the console and the dash. I pulled the bracket off, and not only did it reveal 6 holes, it ripped the leather from the surface. I need to replace that part.
Any good suggestions for purchasing this type of thing? I'm already guessing that matching the natural brown leather interior will make this thing expensive.
Thanks for the help.
Dennis,
Talk with Robert Budd at 928 Leather Shop. He is a site sponsor and you can get his web address by clicking on the word "Sponsors" at the top tight corner of any screen. I would talk with him to see if he can get some of that leather and go from there. That should be a very simple piece to recover.

I have no affiliation with Robert nor am I a past/current customer. I have seen some of his pics on his web site and the work looks to be first rate. However, YMMV.... no guarantee, expressed or implied.... and all of that other legal disclaimer happy horse ****.
I've used Sunset for a couple of things, but I didn't know if they were the best source for things like this. I'll give them a call and get a price.
It will probably be cheaper to get it recovered, if a local shop can find the matching leather.
I just went to his website. His rates look really reasonable. He also did work for Jay Leno, and I figure if he's good enough for as serious a car nut as that guy...
I think if I still had my 996 I would send him my rear center console to get it covered in leather. I had the OEM Storage Bin Cover with the model logo on it and I think getting the rear center console in matching leather would have looked great.
