Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Carefully inspect the car for RMS, coolant tank, tranny, softtop.
Leading evidence: 'Inspect car' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Inspect car' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Still on my search for the right 911 for me - trying to keep it at around 50K.
Found a Yellow C2 Cab 02, 10K miles w/ 18" carrera wheels, adv technic pkg, heated seats, xenon, bose premium sound. Asking 57K. depending on which site you go to (edmunds, kbb, nada etc), difference prices are coming up - do you think this is a fair price?
Also - no PSM (does it make that much of a difference?)
Of course, if I do go through with this a PPI will be set up. (Car is 800 miles away
)
That is a low price, probably because it does not have PSM, and basic leather. A well equipped 02 Cab is worth closer to 60K. There are cheaper cars out there, but you get what you pay for.
I also am looking for a 2002 996 and I think I am going to holdout another 4-5 months or so for pricing to drop. I think you can save a nice chunk of cash by doing so. When is the Cayman due to hit the showrooms? THat should also influence pricing of 996's also I would guess......
No way. PSM is worth its weight in gold. It has saved my butt several times, and I will never buy another car without it.
Here is my list of must haves for any car:
PSM
bi-Xenon
Parktronic
Heated seats
Oh by the way forget about adding this option at a later date..... If you don't have provisions on your steering column it's a huge deal.... Steering angle sensor for one.....

DUB-U: The yellow cab you mentioned is a pretty good deal esp given the low mileage. 02 price will drop but in a few month, most will be out of warranty unless you get certified (which is thousands more compared to private sell). I'd buy now and enjoy it for the summer instead of waiting for prices to drop that'll be offset by out of warranty repairs. Anytime you buy a used car, you'll end up fixing some stuff if you want to make it just like new.
If you are skilled and don't push your car to the limit all the time, PSM is optional IMO. I have yet to skid the car even when I drive spiritly. Prior sport car ownership helps here. Just don't drive aggressively in rain or floor gas during a turn etc.
I don't think Parktronic is essential either. Car is pretty small and you shouldn't parallel park a car like this much anyways. Visibility is pretty good surprisingly even with the top up.
Heated seat is a must have which I regret not having. Get the windstop too which can be had on ebay in case the car doesn't come with it.
03-04 have MOST based stereo so an aftermarket NAV/stereo would be costly to put into the car. 02 doesn't have this issue.
Carefully inspect the car for RMS, coolant tank, tranny, softtop. If it's good, make an offer. Get new tires if old are worn - don't skimp on this.
Have fun shopping and let us know when you get it!!!!
Thanks for the help guys - I decided to skip an 01 yellow cab w/ hardtop (no psm) 37K mles for 47K. Clutch is stiff and high - you know what that means.
Right now I'm checking out two yellow ones - one with PSM, one without. The one with PSM has additional carbon fiber etc, deviated stitching. about 2K difference in price. One is from on cosignment with a p-dealer, the other private party. I'm excited! I'm just gonna bite the bullet and do the 02!
Yeah, if the difference is only $2k, go with the one w better option assuming mileage is similar. Becareful w CF though, they tend to breakdown and fade in sun after a few years. If you get the one from dealer, spend an extra $2k to get it certified w 2 more yrs of warranty.
I just purchased a 2002 C4 Cab in Lapis Blue with 25,000 miles and a bevy of options including Nav, CD Changer, Heated Seats, Litronics, Full Leather, Comfort Seats for $59,000.
Paint is a little bit rough with a fair number of rock chips and tires are about 50-60% tread left. Interior in generally good shape. Top in generally good shape.
I think I got a reasonable deal. From a private party with a few months of warranty left. I think I'm going to bring it to a mechanic soon and have them do a once-over to see if there is anything that I should get a addressed before the warranty expires.
Will have a few pictures soon.
