Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just purchased a 2001 certified pre-owned C4 and the driver's side headlight is loose from the front mount so that it swivels up. I would rather not take to the dealer just for this -- is there a way to refasten it? I don't seen any screws or clips that hold it down, so I'm not sure what keeps it in place.
I'm having trouble picturing this. Is it the entire headlight assembly, or perhaps just a light within the assembly? Do you have the regular halogens, or the xenons with the auto-leveling feature? If it's the entire headlight assembly, it is about a foot long and slides into place along a track. The last inch or so of travel is done in concert with the clamping mechanism. If it's not clamped down properly, the whole thing is at risk of sliding out. There are instructions in the manual on how to clamp it down. However, I'm not sure how the entire assembly could do a "wheelie," given how it slides along the track. Do you have a picture you can post?
Sorry, I did a pretty lousy job of describing the problem -- my wife pulled up in the driveway and I saw the front of the assembly was sticking up a couple inches. I just went an looked at it now and it mounts along the track exactly as you describe. I pulled it all the way out of the track and then put it back in -- it's going all they way in but the clamping mechanism clearly isn't working. I'm not sure if I have the self-leveling lights or not, but I will take a look at the manual. Thanks for your help.
Peter,
After you push the headlight assembly all the way in you need to use the supplied tool to lock it into place. The tool should be in your toolkit and it looks like a socket wrench. Consult your owners manual for details.
I hope this helps.
I agree that it is a neat design. Unfortunately, what makes it easy for us to replace burnt out bulbs also makes it easy for thieves to steal our Xenon bulbs and ballasts.
Just be careful where you park.
