Suggestion

Tiptronic is actually a better configuration for a turbo, as the boost doesn't drop as with a 5 speed, unless of course you're using heel/toe to keep up the revs while shifting...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I presently have a C4S with tiptronic that I very much enjoy. I occasionally entertain the fantasy of trading up to a turbo. Just curious to know if the turbo with tiptronic is a substantial difference over what I presently have. I haven't been able to find a local turbo/tip to test drive. I drove a Turbo X-50 the other night with a 6-speed, but it was hard to compare b/c of the different tranny. Is this worth pursuing? Thanks

POST 2Original post

TURBO!!! Tiptronic is actually a better configuration for a turbo, as the boost doesn't drop as with a 5 speed, unless of course you're using heel/toe to keep up the revs while shifting...

POST 3Original post

I'm not sure I understand?...You drove a turbo and couldn't see the difference because of the tranny? You must be kidding right? IMO, there is no comparison when that turb kicks in, regardless of the tranny.

POST 4Original post

If I had the bux, no question, turbo all the way. Alas, reality is the C4S made more sense for me.

POST 5Original post

I have a 99 C4. I have driven both the 03 c4s and an 02 Turbo with tiptronic. Both great cars but the turbo obvious has a huge power difference. If its power you crave, it is an easy decision
