There aren't any specific Porsche repair body shops but I will make sure the one that is used by all Porsches here in town has the right alignment bench and I will go check it out once theyve removed the crumpled panel to see how theyre fixing the stuff behind it and what the running gear damage is.

The C4S has a higher value here, surely a repair will not pass beyond $ 40k?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got backed into today unfortunately by a reversing soccer mom in a big Chrysler van I'm hoping this can be fixed, but will it ever be like it was? the rear wheel is out of alignment oushed back an inch or so, door cannot be fully closed and B-pillar looks slightly bent. I feel like this but cannot cry in front of the family

POST 2Original post

People need to pay more attention!! I would of flipped!

POST 4Original post

I'm afraid there won't be any good news. Just remember that shopping for a new one is fun.

POST 5Original post

That looks severe. At least your boss will step up and do the right thing. Let us know how it turns out for you.

POST 6Original post

I had the sheer agony of actually watching someone back into my car in slow motion -- I was about 100 yards away and walking back to my car ... I could see the old coot backing up slowly ... slowly ... slowly ... -- never looking -- slowly, stop, slowly, slowly : WHAMMM ! I wailed " Noooooooooooooooo ," and reflexively grabbed the side of my head like the figure in the Edvard Munch painting. In short, I feel your pain.

POST 7Original post

That looks somewhat significant, how fast was she going? Jeez... Best of luck none the less.

POST 8Original post

The damage can probably be fixed. A full assessment of the extent of the damage needs to be done. This requires you get the car to a genuine Porsche Approved Collision Center (at least as they are known here in the USA). At some point the assessment will require the running gear (wheels/tires) be removed and the car placed on a Celette Bench and with the proper jigs/fixtures all the hardpoints that might have been affected by this impact are checked to make sure they are not out of position. Even if some are, depending up which ones and how severe the damage is, they can be brought back into position. Then it is a matter of fixing the body damage and painting. PACC shops know what it takes to fix these cars properly, to bring them back to their pre-collision condition. Sincerely, Macster.

POST 9Original post

Ouch! Make sure the insurance company they have works with reputable Authorized Porsche Shops like Macster said Good luck !

Actually that is why I was at his house in the first place to discuss my new larger role. This should make the paycheck discussion easier... Seriously though, thanks for the comments everyone. There aren't any specific Porsche repair body shops but I will make sure the one that is used by all Porsches here in town has the right alignment bench and I will go check it out once theyve removed the crumpled panel to see how theyre fixing the stuff behind it and what the running gear damage is. She must have been going quite fast, I could see two foot long black tiremarks from locking up the front wheels. she was reversing downhill, which is why the brakes didnt help much as theyre biased for going forwards...

POST 16Original post

thats looks like a Right Off... Getting a New Quarter-Panel in there is a lot for $$,$$$.$$

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have never heard of diminished value comp - thanks for the tip, will read the fine print. The C4S has a higher value here, surely a repair will not pass beyond $ 40k?

POST 18Original post

Oh man that's enough to give ya nightmares It might not come to 40K but that panel is totally inter-graded into the "frame" which basically everything is bolted to... so it could get real close $$$. If they suggest cutting the panel of and welding a new one on I would say... no. Actually, HELL NO GL !

POST 19Original post

Some cold case detective from NY is investigating Jack the Ripper right now on TV and I can see the ripper has relatives where you are. That's some brutal damage. Glad you weren't between the two cars. Hopefully insurance cleans things up with you getting a fresh 911.
