Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After using Search, I learned a lot on this subject. To clarify what I think is consensus, either standard or turbo mounts are preferred over solid's or even semi-solids (Wevo) for everything other than a full race car??? Also, where is the best place on the engine to support it when changing them out as a DIY? All thoughts and advice welcome!

POST 2Original post

I changed to the RS mounts. a little more vibration in the cabin but better feel when shifting. Got mine from Gert at Carnewal. Not sure about the turbo mounts.

POST 3Original post

The RS mounts are the best options (even for Full race cars) and Gert is a great option or even FVD is another. The best support is to place a device under the cross member at the back of the motor. This is how we do it.

POST 4Original post

ATV jack under to oil pan works well too. When you say RS mounts is this 993 rs?

POST 5Original post

These (as I understand it) are out of the 993.

POST 6Original post

Yup the RS from the 993 are the same RS mounts for the 996 and the 996 GT3. Very easy to install.

POST 7Original post

Vivid Racing now has some motor mounts from Torque Solutions that are another option. I have a friend that just put them in and he says he loves them. Says they are much firmer in terms of engine movement but no more vibration. Here is a link to his thread on 6speedonline. http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...id-racing.html

POST 8Original post

The X73 mounts are stiffer than the standard turbo mounts. But the vibration is actually less and the noise about the same. It's a good middle ground IMO.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
