Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey folks, working on a 2000 base cab, manual. Cruise is not working -- I could care less but I have a buyer and he would like it fixed. - cruise bulb/light in the cluster is good and will come on when the key is in pos 1 - confirmed all 4 brake lights work with new bulbs (side lenses, high mount, and spoiler mount) - the cluster in the car is NOT ORIGINAL to the car but it is from a .1 and it is a used OEM - I swapped back in the original cluster (bad lcds) with the same affect - fuse is good, same circuit as the brake lights and they work I have never had a 996 with the cruise that doesnt work. Seems like a system that always seems to work - the driver seat bottom has been replaced so the driver seat was out of the car - is there anything in the harness/module under the driver seat I need to recheck? thanks.

POST 2Original post

You need to check to see if it is activated in the DME and dash using a Porsche specific scan tool like the PIWIS or Durametric Pro.

POST 3Original post

There is a total of 4 electrical switches on the brake and clutch pedals. Either clutch or brake switches can keep the Cruise from setting. One of the switches can be faulty or out of adjustment. One possible check is to drive the car at speed and pull up on the pedals with left foot/toe while trying to activate the cruise control. Other than that you will need to be good at Electrical Diagnosis to fix...
