You just need to un-hook the electrical connectors, the seat belt receptacles (because you re-use those).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok I am removing my seats to install some gt3 euro seats. I have read tons of posts but I have never seen before what is under my seats ... 1/ under the driver seat, I have a HUGE electronic box... what is that ? and how do I deal with this on my gt3 euro seat ? do I have to retrofit the box under my euro gt3 seats ? I bet I do ... and why I have never seen this in previous posts ? 2/ I have a weird female seat belt plug thingy under my passenger seats. Can I go without putting it back ? I don't see the use of this thing For info I do have the option on my car of the "lowered -10mm seats" May be that explain why the box is fixed on the seats instead of being on the floor.. HEeeellllp

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yep I have the memory seats.

Probbaly the module for that.. I will poke my head under my seat later and see if I have it as well. It is kinda big though

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

if you look at your sets, you will see that there is a nice plastic cover in front of the module. When i bought the car, I thought "cool there is a little drawer there"... but no the cover would not slide I have to admit that most gt3 euro seats install I saw were on the gt3 forum where obviously they don't have to worry about the memory seats, as they all come with manual rails. That would explain it Marc. If anybody could confirm that would be great, but I will certainly try to unplug the whole thing tomorrow. Anyone want to guess about the sealt belt plug under the passenger seat especially If I can toss it or not... Phil.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll see tomorrow when I get back at it if I can get better picture and part#

POST 8Original post

Did you look at this? https://rennlist.com/forums/996-1998...stall-diy.html Do you have sliders? And the side mount brackets? You just need to un-hook the electrical connectors, the seat belt receptacles (because you re-use those). Everything else stays intact on the seats you are removing. You won't have memory seat function anymore.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yes I had seen the gt3 euro seat install, this is the best DIY around http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/album651 But I was just surprised by my two additional parts that are not covered in the DIY. I think I know what to do next for the driver 'memory seat model', still unsure about the female seat belt receptacle under my passenger seat.

POST 11Original post

That module is on my stock memory and heated seats as well. You have to unplug a wire from it which I believe goes to the memory seat controls in the door sill. You won't plug it back in to anything. It's useful to take the whole module off (takes two torx screws) to uninstall the wire and then screw the module back on. If I remember correctly there are some wires that go between that module and some stuff in the seats like the motors and heaters.

POST 12Original post

The red thing under the passenger seat is for the child seat kit. When a child seat is in place a seat belt beuckle type clip plugs in there to deactivate the airbag.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, very useful. I think I got all my answers.. in 2 hours time ! Rennlist Rules !

POST 14Original post

My car with memory and heated seats does indeed have that module.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Marc I'll report when I get the gt3 euro seats in place to confirm if everybody's speculation are correct

POST 16Original post

PICS D^MMIT!! and your welcome....I knew it was french fries

POST 17Original post

Yummy yummy on the fries! Pics please! Wanna see the results, they must look sick

POST 18Original post

GT3 seats huh? You prepping the car for track use??? You should come down to Homestead next month. ERME has a 2 for 1 special. You get 2 hours of track time for $125-150 depending if you require an instructor.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

confirmation, I had to remove two torx screw and the plastic box/module slide out and you can unplug the 2 left plugs. After that screwed the box back on and seat was out of the way. I am getting ready for the track, so far I have only been goign out with PCA (pain in the ***) and Hooked on driving in palm beach and Homestead. Hooked on driving are greattt ! Tons of track time and they are more relaxed, in part because the drivers are more used to tracking their car and less checking and rules are needed. I have not driven with Erme or Chin, but I plan on doing so as soon as my seats and my roll bar is in. Should be ready next month LOlll..

When you finish your GT3 seat install, share your pics with those who are less fortunate.

POST 21Original post

yea, uhhhh when I said PICS....I wasn't wanting to see a wad of wires!!!

POST 23Original post

I think Ed is talking of a different seat.....the kind with a crack down the middle.
