Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Guys,
For some reason the switch that powers my passenger seat back and forth has gone dead.
The tilt and up/down work fine. All fuses are fine.
But unless I can get a job as Vern Troyer's chauffeur, I'm in a pickle.
Is there anyway to slide the seat back by hand? Hoping there is a simple answer to this -- if there is, I can't figure it out.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Best idea there is. Let's hope he had a couple for different driving mood situations. I've got 2 programed and should have at least 4.
Press just the number buttons. Pressing M and one of the numbers is assigning the present configuration to that numbersmemory position.
Could of sworn there was a thread a year ago about connectors to check under the seat since a couple guys had experienced disconnects. Others have had worse but I won't say that
Could be the switch or could be the motor. If it is the switch you should be able to remove it and jumper the contacts for a temporary solution. Then get a replacement switch. If it is the motor then you have to replace that. There is also a cable drive from the motor to the gears that move the seat that can break.
Thanks, Guys! It appears to be the switch at this point. Cable and motor appear fine. I'll just get a new switch and give it a try -- not an easy part to find!
Responders, please RTFQ.

I do not believe that Porsche offered memory for the passenger seat in a 996.
I have the full power/memory/heated/yadda yadda seats option on my car and the memory unit does not do anything for the passenger seat.
I have the same problem on my car, although it is currently (and fortunately) intermittent. Switch is more likely than the motor. Passengers tend to be harder on the switchgear than owners...
