Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I sanded the bumperettes to try and eliminate the grain then I used a filler primer on them prior to applying the base.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As I live in Canada and getting painted bumperettes across the border is a pain I decided to do it myself. Apologies to the Bumperplugs guy. While I was at it I also removed the Carrera crest, sanded, painted it body colour and cleared it then applied 3M trim adhesive tape (carefully cutting with an Exacto knife). Here are the results. The car is a 99 Cab and the colour of the car is Mirage. The car came from a place that required front plates so I found some nylon hole plugs at Lowes and just finished painting and clearing them as well so soon my front bumper will be smooth and hole free! It all took a while with a few mistakes in the painting process but worth it I think. Cheers

Looks good, no harm done when you put your own time/effort into it. The problem lies when some guys try to get someone local, pay the same as eric could do it, and don't get the same results.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Ed. I keep going out to the garage and looking at it. How's your car doing since it took the hit? I think I'd be suicidal!

POST 4Original post

Nice job! I like the stealth Carrera logo too.

POST 5Original post

Looks good, I want to do my Arctic Silver bumperettes soon. What paint did you use?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I ordered the paint from these guys: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ I ordered the base colour, an adhesion promoter for plastic parts and the clear coat. While I was at it I also ordered base coat for my wife's Mercedes and my Yukon XL. Given the the Porsche is now 12 years old the colour match is pretty good, especially for a metallic. I sanded the bumperettes to try and eliminate the grain then I used a filler primer on them prior to applying the base. It really modernizes the look of the car IMHO. Good luck.

You did a nice job, congrats on another worthwhile DIY.

Im keeping my fingers crossed that it will turn out like new. I hope to get a few bucks due to diminished value and keep on truckin from there. In the big scheme, it's just another ride for me. I'd like to upgrade as most of us look to do, and I'd like to keep this for my son to drive ( if it lasts that long). I just remembered I also have painted bumperettes and Carrera logo from Eric. It's a nice upgrade .
