This is not a probability of success.

I just replaced the front struts so the car is going to be getting aligned anyhow.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm getting ready to swap out bars on my C4 did anyone ever put together a DIY for this? Is it true I can do the job on a C4 without fully removing the boomerang plates? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

have to remove the sub-frame... no way around it... Maybe you can do the diy write up.

POST 3Original post

Yeap, you gotta remove or slide the subframe to allow the sways to come out/in.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The Porsche service manual doesn't even have a section on removing the bar. If I fully remove those plates is there any ill effect? I just replaced the front struts so the car is going to be getting aligned anyhow.

POST 5Original post

Its not that bad to do. When I put the X74 suspension on I unbolted what whatever was holding the parts in place. Its easy to unbolt...the time consuming thing is fishing the old sway out and the new in. Time consuming = 15 minutes. Don't let it scare you. Good luck.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

so I did this job last night and its very easy. First I remove the two diagnol braces Than I removed the end link nuts followed by removing the two bolts holding the sway bar on each side. Next I removed the front most bolt. Than I loosened the bolt holding the control arm and swiveled the plate away from the sway bar, pulled out the bar and installed in the reverse order and torqued down the control arm bolt.

POST 8Original post

that's why there is NO DIY article - too easy WTG !! (did mine in the driveway at night... and it began to rain about 1/2 way thru... was a fun time!)
