Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well, everyone, I want to thank you all for a great year on the 996 forum. I have learned a tremendous amount about Porsches and more specifically, 996's. It has been a fun ride!
Today, I made the jump to a 2010 GT3. Wanting to maintain my member in good standing, I am attaching photos. Also, I will be dropping by from time to time. Hopefully, you guys won't mind a 997 interloper!
Honestly, the difference is night and day. The GT3 is a much more visceral beast which requires a lot more attention. If you are, however, looking for a car that responds immediately and precisely to drive input, there ain't anything out there like it! I highly recommend the experience
Also, thanks for the compliments. I'm not worthy!
lets see, WOW is take.... Holy Crap... nope...SOB gone....
hell I am left with F%&K ME!! what a ride!!
when I opened this I was going to make some smart a$$ comment about non-996 owners posting on the 996 forum, then I saw that ugly red car and tried as hard as I could to muster up some slack jawed remark - but F$%K ME!! that thing is sick !!
Damn, man!
If you have to pull a chute to eject from the 996 Forum,
that's the chute to pull.
Congratulations on the purchase of one of the finest cars to roam the planet.
You do know you got away with something, don't you?
Best of luck-Mawgie
The car looks superb, lucky you !
From 996 to brand new gt3, that's quite a commitment
Do you plan to daily drive this beast ? or is this a weekend toy ?
Yah, right.
You do bring up a good point, though. When I picked up the car from the dealer yesterday, we were talking about where you go from a GT3 - and really, there are are no more true step function movements in the Porsche lineup. Most moves are lateral or incremental. TT's, GT2's and RS's are all at the top of their perspective food chains, but, then again, so is the GT3.
At this point, I've really got to learn how to drive a completely different animal. The 4S is soooo forgiving, it can mask a lot of driver error. This car responds very quickly to driver input.
As far as the GT2RS, noooooo way! If there's ever been a car that has too much of a good thing, the GT2RS is probably the one. Very little driver aids, +600HP and street legal? I'll let the real men take a shot at that
Not a DD. Work is only 3 miles from the house, so can't even get the car warmed up, and the parking garage entrance is a little too steep. Front lip on the this car is <4" off the ground. The front lift option is probably worth the investment next time.
This will be my weekend and track toy. Maybe I'll get a TT next year for my DD
That's gonna be a big sell to the wifey, though!
OUCH!!! Thanks for reminding me!
You can say that again!
Seriously, have you spent much time on the 997 GT2/GT3 Forum? They seem to be a bunch of good guys over there. They are extremely track oriented, as one would expect, and they don't seem to be as "full of themselves" as some of the guys on the 997 Forum.
OMG, Holy Chit, F'in amazing, over the top, +10, TOTALLY, awesome, snap, Money, phat, fresh, Dude............simply gorgeous......enjoy it in good health...a magnificent choice ............talk about steppin' up..........Forgedaboudit! ...I need to find my napkin to wipe up the drool............NURSE!!!!!!!!
Awsome, nice to see you stayed with the Porsche marquis! In spite of what I've heard, I think the GT3 would be a great DD, It's got to be better than my lifted Jeep or GSXR, lol.
I don't need to tell you to enjoy;-)
So true. I got rid of my Jeep TJ when I bought the C4S. Short wheelbases and lift kits don't really do much for me on the street. Off road's a different story!
I'm thinking about changing my middle name to ENJOY!
Those cars are really made to be enjoyed and it sure appears you will be doing so
I hope you have some sort of connection to the police or fire department driving a bright red car hehehe
Looks like fresh meat bait to me. No need to scream enjoy to you as you flash by in the turn
The Fahrer is my brother in law and I drove the red beast this morning and I can confirm that it is deed just that.... A BEAST!!! We were getting on the interstate and at 60mph or so, and I punched it. She power slid Right there on the ramp under total control. OMG what a vehicle.
Fahrer took the wheel and showed a glimpse of what this car can do on the twisties. He is a VERY good P car driver. And the braking. Thank goodness the seat belts lock up quick.
All I can say is watch out Road Atlanta. Here comes big red and she ain't no red headed stepchild. She is coming to take names.

I will be at the DE in June. Look me up! Like you say, can't miss the car
Yes! I did consider the GTS. When it came down to it there were 3 issues which pushed me to the GT3
1. Every GTS I saw on the lot was a PDK (I wanted manual)
2. While the GTS comes with some nice upgrades, I was looking for more of a track oriented vs. street oriented car.
3. Price points for the GTS and GT3 are roughly the same, so, for me, it was a no brainer.
The GT3 could be a daily driver, but, really its a track and mountain road toy. I would really hate to put empty miles on a car like this making the trek back and forth to work.
One word... AWESOME!
Very nicely done and you couldn't have picked a better color for the GT3. We have a Doc in our neighborhood and he drives an X-51 and she a GT3. Every time she drives past the house I wave with envy.
