Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys for your response to what tires to buy. Could not be happier with the sumi's. Didn't realize how bad my tires were, only had the car for 3 months. Now I realize how wonderful my 911 drives!

POST 2Original post

dont forget to take it easy the first couple hundred miles for tire break in.... enjoy the new car feel.

POST 4Original post

You should love the Sumis, and yes, give them a few hundred miles to break them in.

Like Steve and Ferd say......drive easy to get the lubricant off the tires. They are greasy new.

POST 6Original post

awe crud.... THAT's just sissy talk!! get out there and wag the tail - those slippery bastards wont be THIS FUN ever again !! (actually kidding, yes they are slick the first little bit - do take it easy)

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks...had no idea I should take it easy, but will keep that in mind. I was advised today to have them "speed balanced" which will make them ride even better. Obviously NTB can only balance to a certain speed? I am gonna take the advise and take it in on Monday.

POST 8Original post

I think that if you get them balanced at a shop that uses a Hunter Road Force balancing machine, you'll be good. Most Porsche dealers have them.

Yep the deal of taking it easy for break in is no hard cornering, acceleration and braking. Just diddle along as much as possibly for at least 100 miles. The slippery aspect will wear off before 100 but still let the belts and rubber settle in and firm up. It's kind of like the rubber and other parts need the break in like expoxy needs to cure. If you already have slammed the gas and brake its no problem since no turning back. Just give the tires a break untill you have a 100-200 miles on them. I go with 100 mile on my bike tires. I know I know, take it easy while driving the car is next to impossible. You know probably the worst would be getting new tires along with pads and rotors. Theres a break in proccess for rotors that involves regular and hard braking. I don't think I'll get the tires and rotors or pads at the same time.

POST 10Original post
