Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I test drove an 83 sc before I bought my 1999 911. From the clutch being hard to push in, scared to go above 4k rpm for fear of more rattling and something breaking, and having to firmly push the brake pedal to even attempt to stop. I stopped in the middle of the intersection at the first stop sign. I decided to go with the more modern 996 because I'm a believe in technology advancements and going with the latest and greatest I can afford.
Well this more modern car a/c stopped worked, and the immobilizer left me stranded and I find myself trying to remove all these comfort creatures. (carpet, airbags, stereo, speakers, rear seats, door panels etc)
These old cars aren't easy to drive...yet? Will I learn how to drive this car or will it be a constant battle driving around town?
here's a picture of it, it has a 993 gt2 body kit on it! so sweet! I hate the look of mk1 996 headlights

Built on a solid rust free '75 chassis (no smog inspections). $28,000 invested. Recently finished. 2.7 L engine with approx 40,000 mi on it. Runs beautifully. Drives straight and solid. Brakes nicely.
This car turns heads. Get in touch with your dark side. Black Cherry on Black interior. Exterior is Blackest Black with a slight touch of dark cherry flake.
Light weight 2,200 lbs so with the 2.7 L engine it is very quick but the 2.7 gets great mileage and is very durable.
New axels 100 miles ago. ($1,000)
RSR Shocks 911 SC Suspension.
New Recaro seats.
Modern HID headlights.
Kenesis K28 9" and 11" wheels in great shape.
Cylinder leakdown done last week. Excellent results, paperwork available.
Transmission good with good synchros. No grinding.
New carpet kit.
No leaks. Not even the slightest drop. Engine is tight and dry.
Sunroof and electric windows work well and very fast (unlike some)
Car does not pull or drive funny in any way.
Starts instantly hot or cold.
I don't mind cars modified but still look like the same year. Updating the face is not my thing, it's a wanna be car.
And FYI I'm looking at older cars too.
I was looking at an older 911 SC as well before the 996. It definitely has its perks but how molested is that old 83? I'm sure the critics are going to start rolling in since your posting in a 996 forum..
I've owned older cars, and fairly recently drove an early '80s 911. Any year in good condition will drive very nicely. The steering, shifting and brakes should all feel very good, if not there's something wrong. The older cars when pushed really hard will feel more rear weight biased, and the front ends will feel more floaty at speed which is perfectly normal. These issues can be addressed but docile city or even counrty driving should be effortless and pleasent.
I like it...The kit is tasteful and isn't off the wall like some conversions I've seen.
It might not be a real 993 but if you like the way it drives and you're okay with going back to the older vehicle then go for it!
IDK - if you like it... look at it...worst thing that can happen is you buy it dont like it and re-sell it.... might loose some money and time.... whatever it's not like I am not doing that anyhow
if you want a 993 get one... if you want a 70's get one - mix and match not my thing too....no reason you cant like it
