Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello everyone,
I have a 2002 C4 Cabriolet and am looking to purchase a hardtop for it. Does anyone have a recommendation for a vendor where I could purchase one?
hi! i have gone through this experience before. i asked the porsche dealer how much would it cost me to buy a hardtop and they come up with a price of almost $12,000. i bought from ebay for $450.00. you just have to be patient and if possible, buy from a place where you can pick it up because the shipping will cost you.
there's a lot of this hardtop sitting around, not being use and in good shape. the worst that can happen is that the paint doesn't match with your car and you have to asked the body shop to paint it to match your car.
good luck and be patient!
Ebay for sure, they will always show up, just be patient and look daily. You could also call the dis-mantlers. They seem to have them and also sell them on Ebay.
I was shocked at how inexpensive the 996 tops were compared the ones for the Boxsters. They go for $1200 to $2000 all the time on Ebay???
Definitely eBay - I have seen them go for a few hunderd dollars for pickup only tops. There are also those that buy odd colors cheap and have them painted.
I've often thought the same thing about the pricing on the 996 hardtops. Hell, a decent Miata hardtop goes for $800+, but the 996 ones are half that price sometimes.
Total waste of money and garage space IMHO. Have you been through a particularly unpleasant winter driving experience with the soft top? Or do you just feel the need to have it for some inexplicable reason?
I drive mine all winter with the canvas and, to tell you the truth, with the wind deflector and heated seats I leave the top
down
until it gets below freezing anyway. I've asked this before on this forum but, honestly, what does the hardtop do for the cabin environment that makes it worth being such a pain in the a$$? This is not a rhetorical question, I really want to know people's opinions.
My only other sports car was a cab... I too used the top EVERY CAHNCE I COULD! Year round, if it wasnt raining, the top was down. That is why you get a cab is for the open air, open space, open top freedom.!!
In Seattle where the days it is NOT raining are few, I see 80-90% of Cabs driving on "pefect weather" with the top up.. This makes me so mad I want to follow them and YELL something at them..
Back on topic, I see craigslist hardtops ALL the time. These are the only CAB people I think have it right... thinking they are going "why did I get a hardtop for a cab anyways?" Unless you have some reason like the car is parked outside and it snows several feet/year the hartop is not worth the space and effort...
then again, if they only cost a couple hundred... why not have it in case you want it...more toys for your car.

They're more common on Craig's List or Ebay in the North East. Many New Yorkers simply had no place to store them and abandoned them at their dealer. Go talk to them.
