Fortunately affordable used seats in good condition are not that hard to find since so many people upgrade.

I ahve black supple leather and just use the black dye to touch up small areas.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well I took it upon myself to dye my seats and I'm not too pleased with the outcome. The interior of my car is savannah beige. I ordered the kit from leatheriue (spelling questionable) and did the job myself. The color didn't match like I thought it would, and now i'm weighing my options of whether to purchace new seats or have them professionally done. If anyone knows of a place in the Washington-Baltimore area who reupholstry car seats, just reply. Anyway, here are some pics so you can see the different in the color. No flames please
Pictures can never really represent what a car looks like. If you're not happy with it it will always bother you. Fortunately affordable used seats in good condition are not that hard to find since so many people upgrade. Finding your color may take a little while though, just be patient. I'd get that center piece painted while you're at it as well, or find a new one.
One thing to consider is that the color right after you dye them is not the color they will eventually be...with normal wear and fading. It is very hard to match the older components of your car.
Where is a good place to find pre-owned parts.
I think the seats look like new seats in a well worn interior. Maybe a couple "other" pieces brought up to "new" like will help the seat blend in better. Personally i think it looks like you did a great job though.

The 6speed marketplace, and fleebay are places to watch regularly. I'd focus more on 6speed though.
In the OP's case, the condition of the seats look fine to me, I'd consider taking them to a good upholstery shop and see if they can match them to the rest of the car with new dye.
sorry but on closer inspection I have a couple questions...
1) why is the key stuck in the door
2) Prep? It looks like you didnt mask off the black plastic parts and got a little (to be nice) overcoverage on them) can you clean that up/off
3) did you notice there is someting going on BEHIND the seat, looks like a bit of a struggle to get all that figured out, how is it going there.
4) that tree needs some water
(sorry for that one)

thank you all for your responses. I've been in church all day and just got back. I'm not through with the seats, as you may have seen I over dyed in some areas. The reason for the dye is my seats were very worned and cracking in some areas. So I decided to go the cheaper route first by dying. As for behind the seats, my cab top lid motor stopped working, and I had to manually open it to open the top to make the job a little easier. Thanks for noticing the key in the door, now I know where I left them. As for the tree, you're right, it does need water asap.
Good sense of humor!! I've never had good luck redying with Leatherique. Others swear by it, I just swear at it. Always looks like I just painted my seats. Which on older hard leather cars, its probably just what it is. On supple leather, forget it. I ahve black supple leather and just use the black dye to touch up small areas. Then it's one of those "if you aren't looking for it, you wouldn't notice it" kind of things. Savannah Beige never looked good to me when worn, where as black looks ok. You could also just install new leather covers, either yourself or a shop. Used seats are usually a cheaper option, as you can always sell yours for something to go against the new ones, but unless you see them in person, it's a gamble. New covers always look great.
I'm still weighing my options. I can live with them, but I will probably re-dye them again soon. Next time I'll get a dye with a little darker color to it. What would be the next darker color under savannah beige?
Try some porsche salvage yards near you maybe or some nice sheep skins. If you re-dye I would send them a sample so you will not be guessing next time.
I've got a set of power seats in the same color that I would be happy to sell. I'll have to dig out the pictures I took when I removed them from my car. PM me if you want to see photos.
What a great sense of humor!! I have been busy and didnt get a reply out right away, but
to you for the big smile and great attidude.
Like I said in the first posting, looks great and with some use, it will blend in, try and get a few more pieces up to the "like new" condition
Keep going and dont get frustrated!!!

Found these on CL in my search for sport seats for my car. Wrong color for me...right for you. Plus they would be a serious upgrade. Not sure you want to pay $3k

For future reference, I have used the products by
www.volico.de
for repainting plastic and dying leather on my other p-cars. Their stuff is used by the German car industry (OEM's) and is far superior to anything else I have used. Why is it so good? It applied easily and flatted out immediately on both vinyl and leather, it dries quickly and with the applied topcoat you cannot scratch the stuff off (I tried in a hidden area with a key), it bonds very tightly. Also, did my 951 seats (black leather) and dash (black plastic) two years ago, no fadding in that time and I live in sunny south FL. Downside is limited colors, dollar/euro exchange rate and shipping from Germany. Their products appear on eBay sometimes, just a recommendation/happy customer, no affiliation.
