The car could really use a suspension, the front shocks need to be replaced anyways, but I am otherwise very happy with the car.

If they end up being non-champion knock-offs and you want to get rid of them fairly cheap and locally let me know, considering a 2nd set for my 99.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

These wheels came on the '99 911 I just bought. They are 19s and look like a multipiece construction. Tire size is 235f/285r. The wheels are a 5.5-6 / 10, they have some spots on the finish, and a light bend or two. I'm not crazy about 19s, i'd rather have a nice set of 18s, maybe some MK2 GT3 wheels or something.

POST 2Original post

What do you mean by 5.5/6?? Not the front width I hope. Bolt one to one of your wall in the garage and use it to hang the garden hose. Grab the second one and cut a piece of glass to use it as a coffee table. The third and fourth can be used as boat anchors... Jokes aside, do a search on ebay and you'll see that they ain't worth much.

POST 3Original post

I think he means that the quality of the rim seems to be about a 5.5 or a 6 out of 10.

POST 4Original post

They look like Carrera Classic Sport II's (not sure though b/c of the rivets). I think they look great!!! J

POST 5Original post

They could be Champions....they could also be Champion knock-offs, those seem to be plentiful as well....and I guess they could be something totally different. Are there any markings on the inside?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll go take one off right now and see. If they are, i figured you all would have a better idea of how much they would fetch than I would. I couldn't find any like these for sale on ebay... Also, front tire is 245 actually.

POST 7Original post

I think these just might be from eBay. I would definitely double check the markings on the inside: Check out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/19-Po...spagenameZWDVW I can't attest to the quality of these rims, but I can say two things: 1) I saw them in real life and thought they looked really nice 2) seems like the seller of these now has a fresh eBay registration.

POST 8Original post

They look like real multi-piece wheels, hence they MAY be Champions. Look at the interface between the center and the lip. There's a space there, which implies that it is a true multi-piece construction vs. the one-piece knock-off that you see on eBay. I agree with you guys though... take them off for markings on the spokes.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys thanks for your help, here are some more pics. These look a lot like the ebay ones you just listed above. I will say the valve looks different on these and the ebay ones... The markings in the 3rd image are the only ones I found

POST 11Original post

Those are true multi-piece wheels! They don't look like Champion RG5's though. Older version, maybe?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmm, those letters on the rim read "RB4" maybe you're right about the older version, I'll have to look into that. Thanks again. Do you have any idea how much these would go for?

POST 13Original post

If they are eBay wheels, 500 or less (all depends on the condition). If they are Champions, why would you want to get rid of them? Champions are one of the best sets available. New set of 19" Champion RG5's is ~5k, preowned sets 2.5-3.5k.

POST 14Original post

Like others have said, if they are truly Champions, they are worth a fair amount. They look a fair amount like Champion RG5B wheels http://www.championmotorsport.com/996RG5B.htm However the bold pattern is different, so either they are an older model, or they are clones.

POST 15Original post

Are those off that blue/tan 99 aero that was up at Motorcar Investments at European Performance for a while? What is that gap in the wheel looking between the two bolts (pic from the inside that has that RB4 stamp)? Honestly they look like the usual knockoffs but if you want to be absolutely sure, call Champion Porsche down in Pompano Beach.

POST 16Original post

Dan, glad to see you finally picked up a 996! Looks from the pictures like those are Gen. Champion wheels. As others have stated they look to be an older model but they'll still bring decent money in the event you decide to sell them. Andy

I was wondering the same thing. If they end up being non-champion knock-offs and you want to get rid of them fairly cheap and locally let me know, considering a 2nd set for my 99.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 5749331

Are you talking about the valve stem?

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 5749429

Me too, the space for the valve stem.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 5749429

That's where the valve stem is passing through the center section of the wheel. Poor design...but one more detail that makes me think they're a real multi-piece wheel.

POST 22Original post

Then why wouldn't the barrel have a "hole" in it rather than a "break"??? I'm no sturctural engineer but that can't be stronger can it? That is what makes me think these are replicas rather than Champions. Like I said, I would call them directly and maybe even offer pictures to confirm. If they were my wheels I would want to know.

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 5749483

I have to agree that on a cast wheel that would be a concern of mine. Maybe not soo much on a Forged center section, quality wheel. Then again maybe that's why they updated the design to begin with. ...looks like we'll all have to stay tuned to hear the results.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep, I picked it up from motorcar investments 2 or 3 weeks ago. I was scheduled to go to CMP with coco this weekend but became ill thursday . The car could really use a suspension, the front shocks need to be replaced anyways, but I am otherwise very happy with the car. I just switched from a 2002 M3 which was really well set-up. It was a tough call but I think it will be worth it once i put a decent suspension on the 911. The car also has a loud, buzzy exhaust (PSE? or something else) I would like to get rid of and put stock mufflers on. I'm just not a fan of 19s, the increased cost of the tire, the 35/30 profile tires on it now.

POST 25Original post

BTW, Champion RG5B are one-piece wheels with rivets to make them look like multi-piece wheels. Yours are true multi-piece wheels.

Looking forward to meeting up soon! There are several social outlets in-between track days, etc.. Hurricane region has a coffee get together on Saturday's up in Briar Creek and some of us Carolinas members get together over here in Cary/Apex on Saturdays for coffee and a drive. Enjoy the new car!

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got an email back form championmotorsports, they say it's their older 3piece wheel the RB4. Good news for me since these will probably fetch a good bit more; pay for a set of 18s and maybe have some left over to help w/ suspension. On a related topic, will the stock MK2 gt3 wheels fit a mk1 c2 chassis? I would like a Porsche wheel, and although they can be had for cheap, the turbo twists are pretty common. I'm looking hard at the H&R RSS club sports, but my local friends are trying to talk me into stock GT3. I'm not very familiar with JIC or the other manufactures. It's too bad Ground Control doesn't have applications for these cars...

POST 28Original post

Absolutely they will fit. I have put them on my wife's C2 CAB. Remember, the GT3 is a narrow-body just like your car. Be prepared to pay about 2K for a set of GT3 wheels. With that said, I can't imagine the used champion wheels fetching enough to even cover a set of replacement wheels much less a suspension as well. Depends on what you want to do with the car there are MANY choices out there for suspension so feel free to ask away and you will get more info back than you probably care to read

POST 29Original post

Why would you not put stock GT3 susp. on your car? I think it's a decent set up for occasional track outing/street car... I'd do that + a set of sway bars and see how you like it. Of course if you show up at CMP to join us, something tells me there'll be other 996s here...

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So, ask about sunday. One day and 2+ hours of track time should be all I'd want right now, on these shocks. Weight transitioning sucks, but once it's settled it feels.... 'very niceee'

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Fun weekend at the track. Learned a lot about the car after driving it and talking to several experienced drivers about 911 dynamics, driving style. I was as pleased with myself as i could have been, new car new track and coming out being sick... Anyways, I am looking to sell these 19's so if anyone is interested, shoot me a PM. I am looking for an outright sale or trade for a decent set Porsche 18's. These have Toyo TR1 tires on them now, rear has 3/10th left, fronts have 6/10th. Thanks, -Dan
