Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Started a new thread to show my eBay LED taillights. As I have an early build car without the Litronics, I wanted to update the rear and get rid of the old amber turn indicators. With used OEM clears going for well over $300 a pair, I decided on the eBay style ones for just under $300, including shipping. I took the pictures mid-day, so I have some glare with the garage door opened. I took some inside with the lights on to better show he illumination of the LED's. Here they are:

POST 4Original post

Looks good. Are those smoked? More photos when you can please. A shot as dusk or low light would be great.

POST 5Original post

Night and day! Looks good. So when did Porsche stopped putting those amber tail lights? Just earlier models only came with hose?

POST 6Original post

Are you happy with them? Do you think they're quality units? Do you think they make the car look more modern? Thanks

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If we get some decent weather, I'll try to get some more pics at dusk or less reflective light. These are the "smoked" version and look darker than the pictures make them out to be. Yes, I'm very happy with them and the quality seems decent, equal to the depo brand LED's I put on my Boxster.

POST 12Original post

I do like them, I'm just not sure if I'd fit them to my own car. They freshen up the rear of your car loads.

+996 Actually i was surprised that our cars come with incandescent third brake lights when cars 1/3rd the cost were being equipped with LED's. i agree and OP should match his led tails and get the led 3rd brake light which comes in clear, red, and smoked, whichever his personal preference is.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The 3rd brake light LEDs are on the list, just trying to prioritize my upgrades. I have an entire black leather interior on the way to replace the beige, but that's another thread

POST 15Original post

Just out of curiosity, did you have to deal with the tail light bulb sensors?

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All plug and play using the existing harness. Two of the existing filiment bulbs are used and the rest plug into the LED connectors.

POST 17Original post

looks awesome, will be doing mine this summer

POST 18Original post

Congrats on pulling the trigger on these. They really update the rear view.

Usually with the Spyder brand, you may need resistors depending on your car year. Depo branded ones usually have the built in resistors and are mostly plug and play.

POST 20Original post

Do you have a link to seller? These look really good!

POST 22Original post

^ Same seller I got mine from, and that was nearly a year ago.

POST 23Original post

Cool looking, really transform your car, nice. I am also considering this upgrade, thanks for sharing... Cheers,

POST 24Original post

Greetings, How much work was this? What level of skill set is needed? Trying to see if a neophyte like me can manage it or not. Regards,

POST 25Original post

If you can pop your trunk and can remove two bolts with a ratchet and know how to unclip a few connectors, then you can do it. Basically if you graduated grade school, you can do it. If you'd like, I can create a video of my 4yo son doing this.
