I recently purchased a set of Techart silver faces. If I install them on my guages and later change my mind, can I switch them back to original. I thought about just buying a spare set of guages, but don't want to deal with mileage issues. Any help much appreciated. Tom

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. I have not done aftermarket gauge faces but I think they just lay over the stock ones, probably labor intensive, not something I think you would want to switch back, gauge clusters arent cheap either.
I did the Same thing.. I bought some OEM silver face gauges...Liked them but I have the large Alum Pkg, with the alum gauge rings it was too much, so i swaped them back for the black ones..5 days later my cluster died , and it was replaced for $2600.00 (CND) I suggest you leave them alone..However if you get a spare cluster, your dealer can reprogram your milage ...
It depends of the type of face. If it has double sided tape backing then it would be hard to go back. I got mines ( yellow) from Brandywines Porsche, and it has tape backing unlike the original black ones . Just a word of advice : be very gentle and precise when taking then off and putting them on ( lift the needle straight up or putting it top down. do not adjust them via pushing horizontally or you might damage the mechanisms!) I got mine up and running fine now, but only after couple tries . but well worth the effort. good luck and have fun.
I like the idea of a single gauge in a different color like the new F430:
That's what i was thinking of also, but I did think I want to be too radical when selling car later on.
Don't worry so much about reselling value, you're screwed either way
Actually if you are careful it is not that hard to do. I have had mine apart 7 or 8 times and got it down to a science. The biggest thing is to be VERY careful removing the needles. And for that matter re-installing them. The rest is very simple. If you pull or push to hard you can pop the needle stalk off the little gear rest inside the motor. Ask me how I know. Now, that in itself can be fixed it just takes time to open the little motor and put it back. PM me if you have specific Q's T
Be careful.
That is a small hammer. I found 5lbs and up work best..............
Have the techart silver on mine and would not want to go back. The only minor issue is at dusk with the lights on the numbers are somewhat hard to read. Need that black outline on each number I have seen on the Boxster S. The dealer did the mod for me as part of the purchase of the car.
