Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Had it replaced for about $900 - I did have glass coverage but the insurance only covered about $500 of it.

I called my broker, and apparantly, the no deductable is if you're windshield is being repaired.....if it's being replaced, in my case, it's a $500 deductable.

Yup, I had those delivery glass places replace the glass on the 7 series.

Some insurance companies will also not have a max cost if you use somebody they have a deal with since they get a discount anyway.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So there I was this morning, cruising from Nashville to Atlanta on my planned 500 mile roundtrip, for a business meeting. The weather was cold and sunny, great visibility, and a fun road for part of the trip, where you go over Monteagle, twisty road, passing lakes, Nickajack Dam, on the way to Chattanooga, and hook up with the 75 S to Atlanta (that part is just plain ole hwy)....the P was running like a top, the music was blasting, and all was well with the world, until the rock, about the size of a golfball, came heading my way, with no prayer of avoiding it.....luckily, it hit the windshield only, so the body shop doesn't get a visit from me.....the damaged area of glass is about the size of a dime, with spider legs starting in all directions from the center.
so, is it the P dealer who gets my business, or an indy auto glass shop? I'm sure the deductable is $500.
what would you guys do?
R Landis,
I highly suggest that you watch them do the removal and replacement. A lot of them will carelessly drive a razor blade/box cutter through the seal and through the paint to get the old windshield out. That will start corrosion.
Same happened to my '04 C4S Cab at 800 miles. Cost about $930 at my local body shop (they called in a guy who does all their high-end glass). Once the glass arrived (a few days), it was done in a few hours, and it's as perfect replacement--you'd never know.
Just one of those things!
Happened to me on my 01 C4. Apparently a rock hit my windshield right in front of my Radar detector... I had no idea it was there.
It was middle of the winter with the heat blasting in the car and -5 outside... guess what, the windshield cracked all the way across.
Had it replaced for about $900 - I did have glass coverage but the insurance only covered about $500 of it.
Just call one of those glass places that come to your house or business. Had them come out for work on both of my Lexus'. They did a good job and didnt' charge too much.
Bobby
Laws are different in different states. ie in FL there is no deductable and here in NM I have $100 deductable that the glass place will eat to be competitive. Shop around.
Glass coverage usually has no deductible, and it's not surchargeable (i.e. rate hikes). You'll have to read your policy for the specifics. Some insurance companies will also not have a max cost if you use somebody they have a deal with since they get a discount anyway.
It's funny what will cause a windshield to crack sometimes. I took a pebble smaller than a marble at 65 MPH in my SUV and it cracked it, but in my former VW Jetta I took a chunk of metal the size of a fist off the windshield at 70 MPH with barely a mark. I watched it bounce out of the truck ahead of me, hit the road, and bounce 3 feet up to hit squarely in the middle of my windshield. Nothing I could do to avoid it, especially since I was in traffic.

This story is all too familiar. Repair or replace as soon as you can. Those stars eventually will lead to a nice long crack. My insurance (Liberty Mutual) covered a full replacement with $100 deductable
