Hey guys im new to this forum and ty god i found a good one for a change after endless searches on the web . Well here goes. I currently own a 03 TT , and had never been a fan of the interior looks. But ever since they came out with the 997 , i was stunned to see such a modern looking interior for porsches. As i recall the interior dash of the 997 vs the 996 is only about one inch difference with the width. Im sure with a couple of minor cuts and some crafy hands it can slide right in since money is no issue and im desperate. What im more concerned about is the electrical side of it. Does anyone have any info on these such swaps and problems that could occur or body shops ect that is even close to doing such projects? Ive thought about waiting for the newer 997 tt to come out but the exterior i know will be different in which i dont want. Also do u guys agree that porsches and ferraras are a few steps behind acura , lexus , and bmw' s in terms of interior looks? I just think since i spent most of the time inside the car it finally dawned on me that this is a must for me. Im in the usa chicago area if that matters.. Ty for your time guys.

Ride it til the wheels fall off
there's only one way to find out.. good luck
i don't think any of us will risk tearing apart our car potentially ruining it to find out what could happen. keep in mind all the electronics/ecu involved with the 997 on the dash may potentially not be compatible with anything the 996 offers...
if money is no object, just wait for the 997 turbo to come out in europe and have it shipped out here in a bit.. it's one thing to do this with a honda civic, but with a porsche twin turbo? all i can say is good luck, and get ready to potentially turn it into a parts car if things don't work out..
and even if it does partialy work out, i'd be scared off my *** of the electrical system starting a fire due to some incompatible electronics/wiring done, while driving 120mph through a turn.. if you value your safety and life, (and pocketbook), some patience may be the best route imho
What Bob said - wait for the 997 Turbo. It will probably be quicker than trying to fit the 997 interior into your 996.
Alternatively, get a good aftermarket catalogue and go crazy.
I say go for it ---- but before you do, I get dibs on the remains. Also, if money is no object, you can pay for a few rad mods on my car and I'll let you know how they come out ahead of time and you can see if you like them. I'm a giver!
