Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Test drive impressions are that is much faster than my 89 911.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

On Monday, we found out my wifes mini van needed expensive repairs. While we were talking over what to do, a local used car dealer called and said he had a good deal on a BMW X3. He remembered we said we might want one someday about 6 months ago. We looked at the X3 and there sat a 2004 996 Cabriolet. I said if he could sell us both cars at close to the price of a used 2006 Lexus with my 1989 911 as a trade, we would take both cars.
Well, he did! Now I am picking up two cars tomorrow.
Anyway, it is a Guards Red with gray interior. Test drive impressions are that is much faster than my 89 911. It still has a nice sound to the engine. It is much quieter and easier to talk to my wife at highway speeds. I really like not having to cover the retracted top with a boot. I am not sure that I felt it held the road better than the 89 on curves, but that is probably because I don't push the cars hard enough to see the difference. It is more plush, and I guess I am fine with that.
I have to admit we always worried about breakdowns with the 89 although the car never gave us a problem. Some of the door seals are pretty worn. There is a small rip in the top. In short the 89 is a 20 year old car with normal wear and tear. The 996 has a few rock chips, but not as much as the 89. Slight wear to the paint on the handbrake, the black shows through, but very little. The top had a small tear that has been repaired.
We also like the added safety advantages of the 996. ABS brakes, air bags, roll bar, just a few nicer safety features.
Although I feel guilty spending the money and giving up on the air cooled 911 for a new fangled water cooled car, I think we will be happier. At least most of the obnoxious pick up trucks shouldn't be a problem to beat anymore!
Here is a picture from the dealership.
By the way, the X3 is not a bad vehicle either.
