I hadn't run across this, but FisterD mentioned that if I wanted to do his PSE mod it was necessary to have the 'accordian' pipe installed since I have a Tip - to avoid the transmission of vibrations w/ the exhaust mod.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Have booked in to have an oilchange -- see my other thread as to "creamy mess in filler tube" -- and have decided to get Fabspeed sports mufflers fitted at the same time.
I notice from the pics that the Fabspeed mufflers do not have a flexible section in the pipe as do the stock 3.6 mufflers -- is this a problem?
Is there a vibration or harshness that will be evident?
Has anyone experienced a problem in aftermarket mufflers that do not have the flexible section in the pipe?
Thanks
there are many cars without the flex line, not sure what the reason was for putting it in, maybe expansion, but the muffler is bolted to the motor and doesnt touch the chasis or body anywhere....so no transfer of vibration there.....
GL, hope you like the new sound

I always wondered if the flex was also used to tweak the alignment of the tips a little. I put my own Fabspeeds on, and never got the aligned just perfect like the stocks were. However, got them so close I was happy and really liked the sound! I hope you will too.
PS: I also freaked when I found my first creamy mess in the filler tube. It was middle of a Minnesota winter, but still a rush. (FYI, can reach -30C on a bad day).
Thanks for the comment John, there will be a reason for the flex joint -- perhaps a little bit for alignment and perhaps a litte bit for harshness and perhaps a little bit to stop fatigue.
Anyway there are plenty of Fabspeed systems out there so probably not a big issue.
Bit off topic -- but the vid clip above of the Porsche slidin' has to be the best -- I have it up as my screensaver -- on of my co-workers said that even though the Porsche was in the back and could not catch up to the front car she would rather be in the Porsche because it was obviously more fun -- my kinda girl!!!
Can't wait for the Fabspeeds now -- have to wait 'till Wed next week to get time of work to get to Melbourne for the day -- 440 klms round trip.
