Its a relief to see it clean after it raining here for almost a month straight.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Its been a little over a month now since I took that leap of faith and purchased a 02 996 Cabrio. Well I just had to tell everyone for the record, that this car is everything I hoped it would be and more!
As much as I enjoyed my 944 this car is superior in every way for performance, comfort, and engine sound
The car continues to surprise me with the handling and acceleration it has in store. And even being seven years old it still feels and looks like a new vehicle.
Its also the talk of my neighborhood as the PSE lets everyone know when Im coming and going. Although I do have a neighbor with a 2001 with aero and PSE but doesnt use it as a daily driver.
I detailed it this weekend spending five hours with my Griots random orbital and an abundance of other products. Its a relief to see it clean after it raining here for almost a month straight. Regardless of what others say, I think this car has a very striking exterior. It may not scream old-school 911 but it is still quite attractive IMO.
So for anyone on the fence, dont listen to the haters out there. Go and drive one yourselfIf you want classic look, feel, and smell then this car may not be for you. But if youre looking for a great interpretation of a classic that can play many roles for you then a 996 is the bargain of the decade!
Nope she's actually the one who encouraged me to get it since I was spending so much time keeping my 944 road-worthy!
Plus I've had a P-car and my dog since before we met - so she knows she can't touch either of them...
Nice to hear from another 996 'convert', glad your Porsche hits all the right buttons. I couldn't agree more...you cannot find a better bargain if you're looking for Porsche.
Great post. After losing out on two C4S & a flaky seller on oner 04, I'm seriously considering a cab as well. My wife who usually doesn't have an opinion on the cars I've brought home actually likes an 02 cab that I showed her. She can't drive stick so I don't have to worry about her "stealing" for the day.
Yes, +1 on a 996. You will absolutely love it!
But am I can't believe that I may me the first one to say this - (yes it's in the avatar) - but post some freakin' pictures or get banned !!!!!
Good luck with the car - you will enjoy it!!
Yep, I had some time (well some errands to run as well) last weekend and finally got a chance to get some seat time. I REALLY enjoyed being able to 'spirit' it a bit instead of just DD duties.
Glad you like yours and yeah, I can't find any faults with mine either. I love my 996!
I love the look of the C4S - but I wish they made a version that had the look but not the weight of the all-wheel drive system. Sort of like the C2S on the 993 series.
Its doable I've heard, like what the turbo guys have done, remove the front diff, but unless you are tracking the car, and can exploit the potential of the stock car, I don't think its a big deal. I certainly don't think its exploitable on the street, at least not safely.
Keep in mind, were talking about a
cab
here, not a track beast.
I'm also of the opinion that I think people tend to over exaggerate the impact on street driving.
ZOMG the C4S is a pig!
Its heavier than the C2, of course, but in an of itself the diff is not a buzz kill. My front diff certainly didn't keep me form having a blast on the track a couple weeks ago!
YMMV, JMHO, 0.02, etc. etc.
True...In the grand scheme of things we're probably talking the weight of another passenger in terms of the difference. And I've only driven one C4 and that was a 1990 model which still felt like a rear-drive car so the impact on driving experience is probably minimal until you need it to get you out of trouble or pull you out of a corner on the track.
So I stand corrected!
Coming up on a year of ownership. Almost 13k smile filled daily driven miles. Cannot think of anything else that would make me forget about the morning commute.
I have had mine about a month as well. The more I drive it the more I love it! Man, I can't believe how fun, easy to drive, and quick the thing is. I can't find the words to express myself about this car...

I drove between 2 buildings this afternoon and there was no one around so I hit the gas (only like 15-20 mph) and the sound of that machine (with my 3.6 PSE Hack cans) is to die for!!!
Love it !
++1 - I'm with you! Got mine last September and had it cooped up in February and March (getting the face lift done)... still staring and grinning - although the odd trips to the garage are finally getting less frequent... and after spending some time (and a lot more money than originally intended) doing mods, it finally feels like it's really mine and not borrowed...
