Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use ebay history' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use ebay history' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I would also like to know the trend in 996 values. Have been looking at 2002-2004 coupes and cabs and no offense to current owners, but they seem pricey relative to 997's. Looking at cars.com you can now buy low mileage 997 coupes in the mid $50k range so it stands to reason that the 996's have to start coming down a little more. Or am I missing something?
Even the Manheim prices have not caught up to the market yet. Best to use EBay history. I bought my C4S '03 with CPO for $47800. It also had the Bose and Nav. I would look for one without those particular options and build from there. Both will be a headache and less than the current tech offers. Buy a 20-30K miler stiripped but with PSM. I wish I had my current advice when I was shopping!

On the site they either don't specify if it's a 40th anniversary car or they haven't had any go through lately.
Would you be able to obtain the same data for '02-03 C4S?
I've been in the market for my first P-car for about 2 months nows. I've finally narrowed it down to an '02-03 C4S. I've been spending the last couple of weeks looking around for this year/model and I've even put an offer in on one, which the dealer(not a P-car dealer) didn't like (it was an '02 C4S with 60K, and the history was a bit sketchy - so I went low).
Thanks in advance for your help.
Eric
Thanks very much.
I'm thinking that the car I'm going to look at tomorrow at the dealer with 43K miles, all maintenance records, one owner, RMS was done once, except no xenon, might be a good deal at $41.9K, although I personally want to be at the $40.0K mark.

It seems like you have a good source for auction data Scalarrthu.
would you be able to PM me or post up some info on BMW 545i cars? 04-05 AT. Ebay looks like they are in the mid 20's right now.
Good God...those 99 C2 prices he posted were a shocker! How accurate is that info? I guess I should consider myself fortunate that mine caught fire last September and insurance paid me $37K for it....otherwise I'd have been selling it privately for a whole lot less......I can't believe they've dropped that drastically......
MMR is the Manheim auction range. The listings are from many major auctions all across the US. The date you see represent when the vehicle will be auctioned off. The buy it now price is just that. The auction listings are not always accurate. A TT may not be in the description and often a car is listed as a C4S when is a C2. This is all from Exporttrader. You can google the vin and find where the car is in most cases.
I am pulling the information direct from the MMR (Manheim Market Report) that Steve was referring to. The prices I post are the recent transactions (sales) at the various Manheim auctions across the country. These prices are "wholesale" prices, which is what dealerships base what they will pay for cars they buy or take in on trade. These prices will usually be a mark up to the retail price by the dealer.
Judd, will send you a PM, as it's a long list.
Just guessing here but there are post auctions inspections that are allowed in some cases (at an additional cost). Cars sometimes fail the post auction inspection and the deal does not go through - thus the "no".
Auctions are a whole world by themselves and you can't expect to buy a car at the prices shown but it may provide a reference on what the market is doing. I just bought my C4S 2K below the KBB PP price, from a Porsche dealer with CPO. Timing is everything!
