In fact the last time I was there I told them to change my front pads and rotors if they needed it, because my brake wear light had come on and been on for over a month or so.

I moved to Baltimore a couple weeks ago, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a *good* independant mechanic I could take my car to?
I came from San Diego, and one of the things I was sad to leave (besides the weather), was All German Auto in Escondido.. they were the best shop I've ever been to, and I was hoping I could find somewhere as good as that.
I've only been here once, but they seemed to know what they're doing.

IMO, the go-to shop in the area is GT Performance. Most of the club race guys go to GT Performance in Edgewood, MD. [phone removed]. Genady is very, very reasonable with his prices and is exceptionally honest. I have been going to him for five years now.

Ralph is a super nice guy, but not cheap. I also don't think he has a ton of experience with race cars, if that matters to you.
A new shop is AT Speed Motorsports in Savage. They are trying to make a big splash in the DC/Baltimore market. A few guys have been to them with good results.

I think GT Performance sounds like a good one to try. The "exceptionally honesty" comment sounds good to me.
This is how I felt about All German Auto. In fact the last time I was there I told them to change my front pads and rotors if they needed it, because my brake wear light had come on and been on for over a month or so. When i picked the car up, they told me the pads/rotors were fine (75% left) and it was just that I had melted the sensors - so it was just a quick, inexpensive fix. They could have made some money off me but they aren't like that - they're just honest and do high quality work.
