Had the OEM SSK installed today - had the dealer do it just to get it in quick and correct.

I also saw a recent thread that said there is a special Porsche tool to check the shifter adjustments (the poster had to replace his B&M shifter with the factory before the dealer would check his transmission) - wondering whether this means its better to spend $100 or so to have the dealer install it correctly?

I can't complete a simple home repair without 3-4 trips to the hardware store.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Picked up a new Porsche OEM short shifter today on ebay, sold by Braman Motorsports (a Porsche dealer in West Palm Beach), for $300. It comes with the housing, unlike the B&M, and for this little extra I thought it was worth sticking with OEM and that the housing may make for an easier install (not that the B&M install seems difficult). Pic below. Braman says they will continue to list on ebay and might give better deals than their normal $350 price if you asked. [Javier in parts, [phone removed]; no affiliation with them]
I have searched here and renntech (though probably not thoroughly enough) and haven't found any DIY instructions specific to the Porsche SSK with the housing. Does anyone know where I can find them? Thanks - what am I thinking of, installing it myself??!! I can't complete a simple home repair without 3-4 trips to the hardware store.
I will have the dealer install it!
I put mine in myself and made the mistake of not marking the cables Doh! IN any event I think I got them fairly well adjusted but lately I am not particularly sure. Anyone have a great way of doing this etc.? thanks.
I had the instructions unfortunately I didn't mark the cables. Unless that is what you're talking about and definitely I would like that. I also had that tsb about the adjustment but I couldn't make sense of it.

thanks.
Had the OEM SSK installed today - had the dealer do it just to get it in quick and correct. Not much driving time yet, but so far I love the change.
Thanks to those who offered advice.
Braman Porsche still has a listing on eBay for the kit, opening bid $300, BIN $350.
Hey Mffarrell, can you give me better insight to the aligment markings from that diagram? I don't exactly see where they line up or wish you to have them match at. Any pics from anyone also? And, are both of the cables to be set at that proposed alignment? Thanks.
J.Seven: I only had the short shifter in for 8 days before succumbing to 997S fever. I did notice that it was getting a little smoother day by day. It worked like a charm and I did like it a lot.
