Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I know that this is something that I need to decide at the end, but I would like to hear your opinion. What do you think is better looking combination? Black/Beige or Ocean Blue/Beige? Thanks so much.

POST 2Original post

Ocean Blue/Graphite Grey.....In fact, Ocean Blue and anything..

POST 3Original post

I would go with black. It's a little more conservative. Your also gonna have a harder time selling an ocen blue car.

POST 4Original post

I am not sure you can go wrong with either. I went with the Black on Black. I decided on that because I didn't like the look of the blue as much with the soft top up as much as the black. In hind sight wouldn't mind a little more color contrast, but the black does look great. I also have the sport design 18" wheels along with the full leather interior. I think both will be about the same to keep clean and probably show a rock chip about the same. The blue might be a little more unique in color; however, I also don't see many black 996's either.

POST 6Original post

Black/beige. The black interior trim pieces will compliment the exterior rather than introducing a 3rd color. Plus your wife/significant other...whatever will have a wider choice of outfits to wear in the car.

POST 7Original post

I would say go for black for the reasons that Don gave. Plus, there are already too many of us with ocean blue metallic cars (which, according to the local Porsche dealer, is the most popular color in the Washington, D.C. area). .: programmatore :.

POST 8Original post

I say Black Mine is Triple Black and it is awesome... I am biased..

POST 9Original post

Here's a black and tan 996 interior (can't see the black exterior tho... and here is my wife's 964 which is black/tan to give you some idea of the combination.

POST 10Original post

I think the beige interior looks better than the tan in Don's pictures. However, if I were to get a black car I would probably go with a black interior. I have an ocean blue car with a graphite gray (light gray) interior. With light colored interiors you really have to keep it clean because dirt and scuffs show up really easily. Black interiors may be a bit hotter and show dust more easily but it is easier to dust the interior than to use leather cleaner (on lighter interiors). .: programmatore :.

POST 11Original post

You cant lose with blk/blk but yellow/blk is much nicer....then again, im biased.

POST 13Original post

I don't know how well the black paint wears as I haven't seen enought up close to form a good judgement on it. But the blue paint is, IMHO, one of the worst paints for wear. Virtually every one I've seen up close shows the most swirl marks, etc. compared to all of the other P-car colors. I really like the blue and originally wanted that color, but every car I looked at looked like crap up close due to the paint wear. I was really disappointed. Just some food for thought.

POST 15Original post

i understand this, but would never buy a car configured a certain way just to see if you can do better on resale down the road. get what YOU like - not what the next guy MIGHT like....

POST 16Original post

Ya, your right. The reason I said he should go with black earlier, was because when he said ocean blue, I was thinking of the color ocean jade, the ugliest color ever. But when programmatore posted a picture of the color, I realized I was thinking of the wrong color. By the way I own a blue Porsche myself! I think either color would be nice.

POST 17Original post

[QUOTE=eunsulover] Black/Beige or Ocean Blue/Beige? QUOTE] Personally I don't feel that the savannah or beige interiors work very well w/ a black exterior (and all of the default OEM black interior components). The savannah looks terrific w/ say a lapis exterior, a lot of cohesion and character without a really stark contrast. If you happen to consider going w/ a black/black combo (which I really do not like as there is nothing to distinguish the characteristics of the inside or the outside of the car), you might want to consider spicing things up a bit w/ some contrasting color or CF interior components that will help define the space and give the light something to dance around on. Such as the seat belts, rear center console, arm rest bin lids and grab handles, and sport seat backs. fwiw..... Jeff

POST 18Original post

i was shopping for triple black when i bought mine, but i found an ocean blue/beige that was too good to pass up. at first i didn't think i was going to like it, but know i'm glad i have it. besides, i got my black vehicle when bought the titan...

POST 19Original post

If you want to blend in with the crowd, Black. If you want to stand out in the crowd, Ocean Blue without a doubt.

POST 21Original post

Have Ocean blue and sav. I get compliments on the color all the time. IMHO paint still looks great. Car has it shares of rock chips but very few swirls. I would think black would show swirls just as much if not more. Both are clear coated so the swirls would be in the clear coat. I don't think color would effect the amount of swirls. This is my first non-black car after 3 black cars and even though the blue is dark it seems easier to maintain then the black. Either color is the right choice just what you prefer.
