Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

This car has reset my expectations on how long a tire would last.
Leading evidence: 'Reset expectations' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Since this experience I wouldn't run any other tire.

We've sworn by PS2s it's whole life, but this latest set isn't impressing me.

As a result Ive had the opportunity to test the tires on my car for wet weather street performance.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Its been raining quite a bit in the Charlotte area this Fall. As a result Ive had the opportunity to test the tires on my car for wet weather street performance.
I wanted to give a thumbs up to my Bridgestone Potenza S-02 tires in 18 inch sizes. These tires continue to stick to the pavement regardless of the amount of water on the road or the speed Im going. Its unbelievable how stable theyve felt in comparison to the Sumis, Pirellis, and even the Michelins Ive had on the car before.
I know wet weather performance isnt a high priority for some of you who only drive your cars in ideal conditions, but for a daily driver it is a critical part of our safety. Glad to say these tires have proved their worth and I feel very confident (but Im still cautious!) about their ability in wet conditions.
Hooray for the Bridgies!
Thanks good thread - perhaps people can post good DD tire recommendations here
I drive mine all year and Bridgestone S04 have been good in wet and dry during warmer months and Vredestein xtrac are good in snow and dry roads in the winter
I put Brisgestone Potenza RE970 AS tires on my car, plenty sticky enough for me who will unlikely ever track the car, and it allows me some additional margin of tire performance early and late in the season when the temperature gets low, these tires are also quite good in the wet, either rain or very light snow.
This car has reset my expectations on how long a tire would last. On our SUV we buy tires once every 5 years or so. On this car it's one or two pairs of rears on a yearly basis. But I guess that's the price you pay for fun and handling!
Thankfully my local Firestone shop manager is a huge fan of my car and gives me a decent discount when purchasing from him. So I'll probably continue using them until something else comes along.
We've sworn by PS2s it's whole life, but this latest set isn't impressing me. They are less than a year old with maybe 2k on them and I've noticed the PSM kick in a few times off relatively tame starts and moderate cornering these last few days that it's been rainy and in the 40s.
Hopefully just a bad set. Too damn expensive and it takes too long for us to go through them to start trying to find a new tire option...

These have been excellent here on the Wet Coast. A bit noisy but excellent grip even in the hardest rainfall.
S-02's all the way. I had a chance to drive on the Milwaukee mile during a down pour. I was going 90-94mph around the oval and felt really good. Since this experience I wouldn't run any other tire. In fact my profile picture is during that event.
Now they are horrible cold wet/weather tires. Say anything below 45 degrees.
I've still used mine in temperatures below freezing but you do have to give the tires a chance to warm up since they feel like the hard plastic tires on my kid's radio flyer wagon.
For summer rain I love my Extreme Contact DW tires. They got me through hitting puddles at hiway speeds while being in what seemed like a tropical downpour last summer.
I don't drive it in the winter, and those tires start to get cold and lose grip around 40 degrees and below.
I know it is a risk. Thankfully we don't get those types of temperatures here very often so it's not really worth me considering another set of tires. But I do make sure to take it easy on those colder days.
