Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Have you checked the actual bushes that hold the bar onto the body?

I paniced but on checking oil guage etc everything seemed fine.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The independent dealer that I purchased my car from supplied me with a full warranty and had offered to have a look over my car (they had been unable to prior to delivery as I needed the car for the weekend). I reported a knocking noise from the front suspension. They found all 4 bushings (front and rear) for the anti roll bar (US=sway bar??) were worn. They also found the drop links were worn. They changed all these (except front drop links-on back oder with Porsche-FOC
WOW what a difference-the steering is much more precise on turn in and the car feel far more stable. Previously, turn-in was heavy and imprecise.
Dealer told me that this is a very common fault and easily detectable.
I love the car (was a little disappointed with it at 1st-bt the poor steering down to the fact it is a C4 and had heard that these can underteer).
Another funny thing...the car has done around 31k miles. I never found the perfrmance to be particularly quick. I ran some injector cleaner through (STP). On Friday, I was driving at around 60 mph on the motorway (highway) in 5th gear. I floored the car to take advantage of a gap. The car dropped to 3rd and as I looked in the rear view mirror I noticed a burst of smoke. I paniced but on checking oil guage etc everything seemed fine. The good thing is the car is running much better is much more responisve in the midrange. I wonder if there was a blockage of some sort?? I tried replicating the smoke over the weekend but all is well...
Do bring it in if you notice that it keeps puffing the smoke, but you do have to blow the cobwebs out of the engine every now and again (carbon buildup?).
We just had that rattle fixed in our 33k mile 99 C4, guess it's very common? Your car was probably on the lot for a while before you bought it, so there would've been a carbon build up, hopefully nothing to worry about.
What kind of a noise was it in front? I have got a front thumping noise when I go over smaller bumps. I replaced all four sway bar links with no resolution. I would appreciate any advice you can give.
Thanks
Have you checked the actual bushes that hold the bar onto the body? They also perish (very easy to detect and change-just look at thema and feel for play around them)
