Yes I will do front spacers this weekend....Tips were $400, the bumper was used $250 amd modifying it to fit was $400, don't know how much paint was because it was covered under the settlement...but I got it all done for the settlement, nothing out of pocket, so what the insurance company would pay for replacing the rear bumper and painting it...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just got my car back from the shop...Raj and Brian at VCE are awesome....I had the fiberglass Turbo "Look" bumper on my car before and got rear ended and it cracked right down the middle. So this time I got a real Turbo rear bumper and had it modified to fit. I also had the bumperette holes removed for the Euro look Turbo rear. Then since the exhaust tips needed to be changed, I had some custom tips made and installed to complete the look..I LOVE IT!!!! The rear bumper looks SOOOOO much better than the fiverglass Turbo Look bumpers out there....I was never really happy with the fit of the old bumper.

POST 4Original post

Nice job on the exhaust tips. Not a big fan of a lot I see but those look really nice on the car.

POST 5Original post

Looks nice. How did you get the Turbo Bumper to fit, isent it wider than the other one? Also can you get me made soem of those tips? How much?

POST 6Original post

Bumper looks great and so do the tips! Good job and thanks for sharing the pics!

POST 7Original post

Wow - looks really sweet. I love those tips. What year is your car? Custom fit, custome made - must've set you back a pretty penny, but it looks awesome.

POST 8Original post

LOVE IT!!! looks great!!! you car is finished!

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Car is a 99....yes the turbo bumperis wider, but my body shop knows how to modify it to fit a narrow body car. They cut out a section then seal it up again. the cost total was less than a new fiberglass bumper, including new tips....just gotta know where to go. If you were in LA, I could get you new tips installed, custom the way you like it for less than $400. The have a few designs and types of pipes...you tell them what you want and they make the pipes for you and install them. They do only high end car....There were 3 AMG's, a 7 series BMW and a Range Rover there while my car was there all getting custom exhaust work done. Nicolaas, not quite finished...i have about 3 more things to do....But I am getting VERY close....New amp and speakers go in this weekend....

POST 10Original post

Looks fantastic, tips are great - gives it a nice aggressive look!

POST 11Original post

Looks great Bob. Have you considered 7mm spacers for your front wheels? Looks to me like that may help bring the fronts out to more closely match the rear wheel/fender lip relationship.

POST 12Original post

Very nice look...great job. Fits nicely with the rest of that beauty.

POST 13Original post

WOW! Looks sweet! How much for everything, if you don't mind me asking?

POST 14Original post

Looks fantastic and agree.....you definitely need spacers on those front wheels. My guess is the offset is a bit off since they are 997 wheels.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 16Original post

newport - pardon my ignorance but I don't understand what you had done to the tips.... aren't those tips made by Porsche (and others)? Or did you have those custom built to resemble the P tips instead of paying their $800 asking price? thanks, krista

POST 17Original post

Please post comparo pics after you install the front spacers.

POST 18Original post

Your new Turbo rear bumper and tips look so good on the 996! Would love to copy your conversion one day :-) Thanks...

POST 19Original post

Wow! What a deal! Maybe someone will hit me soon too! lol

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

no those are not Porsche tips....the diameter of these seems to be a little larger and yes it was ALOT less than buying the Porsche tips....PLUS since this is a Turbo bumper on a non Turbo car the exhaust does not line up, I think you can simply use the C4S extension, or have an exhaust shop route your existing tips....so it was going to cost me a couple hundred anyway, add $200 to that and I got those tips. On top of that they were dont the way i wanted them so it was the look I wanted...pay less get mpre...lol...

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Bob? its actually John....but thanks!

POST 23Original post

Yowzer...that's one mean-looking black beast! Nice custom work and paint job on the Turbo-esque rear. One question, though: is that enough clearance between the bumper cutouts and the exhaust tips?

POST 24Original post

Sorry about that Bob, uh, John... Don't forget to post spacer comparo pics!

POST 25Original post

Wow it looks amazing. It sounds almost impossible that a shop can do such amazing work for so little money.

POST 27Original post

I put 15MM spacer in the back and still waiting for my 7MM in front...but thse 15's in the back 'fill out' the fenders very veery nicely!!
