Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Run pirellis' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend by porsche' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Suggestion
As mentioned before, I believe that option 2 is the size combination that is recommended by Porsche for winter tires for the C4S.

There are only 2 winter tyres recommended for the C4S, these are Pirelli and Dunlop.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

my 2 options and I want option# 1 ... need to know if this is a mistake.
michelin pilot sport MS is the tire I want and they quit making what i have now.
options:
1. 225 45 18 front , revs per mile 802 ( a little taller tire )
285 35 18 rear , revs per mile 804
or
2. 225 40 18 front , revs per mile 829
265 35 18 rear , revs per mile 822
any thoughts ?
a little worried about the taller tire in option 1 , 25.9 H compared to 25.1 H ( car is stock )
would like the wider tires as may use in summer also..
Thanks
I agree with your concern over option 1. The tire sizes are within 3% of one another, so there shouldn't be any concern of damaging your front differential. I don't know if the taller tire will have issues with rubbing.
The second option concerns me because a 265mm width tire will really be stretched on an 11" wheel. It won't look good.
What about option three; use the tire sizes that Porsche recommends for your car? Why are you passing on this option?
In option #1 it won't take long before the rear revs per mile will be higher than the fronts due to wear. And 804 / 802 is negligible to begin with so I wouldn't worry about it.
It certainly made a big difference on my turbo running GT2 rims and tyres, the handling was pretty funky and I had to go back to stock rims and tyres to sort it out.
Yeah, I read of your troubles with that combo. It seems that these cars behave differently for everybody. I did a ton of searching/reading about the GT2 tire set up and it looked to me most folks didn't experience the problems you had, rev ratios aside. So I went with the same set up as you with GT2 rims and PS2's and have never experienced any of the handling problems you did.... Thankfully. The OP's tire sizes are smaller with less of a variance between front & rear RPM's so I still think I'd go with option #1.
Why is this option out? As mentioned before, I believe that option 2 is the size combination that is recommended by Porsche for winter tires for the C4S. The only issue that I see its that you need a 10" wheel for the rears as opposed to the 11" wheel that comes from the factory on the C4S with summer tires.
There are only 2 winter tyres recommended for the C4S, these are Pirelli and Dunlop. The Specs for the recommended Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D are:
FF 225 40R18 804 r/mile
RR 265 35R18 826 r/mile
This is in line with the 996 AWD requirement of higher r/mile rated tyres at the rear. Tyre manufacturers do not make tyres to the same specs for each size, if you buy Porsche approved tyres you know that the specs will be correct for your car, otherwise you need to work it out for yourself.
With option 1 the rears have the higher r/mile at the rear, so this is OK
The GT2 setup with PS2s is FF819/RR817 only a difference of 2 but I imagine it very much depends on what condition our VC is in.
