Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I even replaced the old brake wear sensors and cleaned my calipers in the process.

I also used the VW coolant, less expensive and compatible with Porsche engines.

Also make sure to clean off the old gasket for the thermostat mounting surface on the engine block, I didn't 100% which resulted in a tiny leak, had to R&R the thermostat a second time......

If you haven't done it yet, don't forget to change all the brake and clutch fluid.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I purchased some rear Sebro rotors and Textar brake pads from Jason at Warehouse33 recently, along with a new water pump, thermostat, and misc. bolts, new caliper pins etc. Thank you Jason! I fired up a wood stove in my old garage this afternoon and thought it would be a good day(raining all day) to do my rear rotors and pads. I even replaced the old brake wear sensors and cleaned my calipers in the process. Next will be the water pump and thermostat and new engine mounts. Want to be ready for my drives up to the White Mtns. this winter.
All nice and straight forward DIY work. I have done all of that and feel very proud of my work. I know the way you feel. Well done. If you haven't done it yet, don't forget to change all the brake and clutch fluid. Also remove the crap between the radiators and condensers. More info re water pump. 2 of the 7 bolts holding the water pump are longer than the other 5. Make a note where they come from.
I have a Motive brake bleeder to change the fluids Hurdi, thanks, good suggestion. Haven't cleaned my front rads and condensers for a few years so I'll add that to my list.
Make sure to get a 1/4" drive 10mm deep socket and a 1/4" drive universal joint, you will need both for a couple of the bolts on the thermostat, maybe even for the water pump too IIRC.

Are you going to burp the cooling system multiple times or use the UVIEW 550000 tool? I also used the VW coolant, less expensive and compatible with Porsche engines.
