Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I need to get it removed because I know only having three of the four bolts tightened will cause a CEL related to a air leak.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I went to clean the trottle body on my car and one of the main bolts that connects the throttle body to the intake manifold snapped on me and now one end is stuck in the intake manifold. I need to get it removed because I know only having three of the four bolts tightened will cause a CEL related to a air leak. By the way its a 99' Boxster but the Boxster area is REALLY SLOW,and I need help(Please dont flame me). What would you recommend to remove and loosen up the jammed bolt? I can get a extra bolt no problem but I need this one out and I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

POST 2Original post

I believe you can get a "drill bit" (not sure exactly what it is called - "extractor" maybe?) that is reverse threaded that you can drill into the body of the bolt and once the "bit" takes hold, it will begin to unscrew (remove) the bolt. Something like this should be available at an auto parts store or home improvement center (Lowe's or Home Depot). Hope this helps. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

POST 3Original post

The reverse bit is probably the best. I use a std bit and reverse sharpen it myself. First drill a pilot hole before using it. Don't slip and be careful not to brake off the end of the bit as this makes a bad situation worse.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh boy...the intermediate shaft that the throttle body connects to is getting swapped out. There isnt enough space for me to use a extractor,I dont want to remove 50 parts.

POST 5Original post

The reverse bit is called an "Easy Out". Should be available at most hardware stores.
