Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am looking to trade 2000 c5 in on 911 cab any tips on what year or options .
I live in bay area.what dealers are best to deal with.best place to buy ?
I just picked up a 2002 C4 Cab. After scouring this forum for advice I personally only considered 2002+ MY because:
glass rear window w/ defroster (can't be retrofitted on earlier models)
3.6L engine w/ Variocam Plus
turbo style headlights
generally lower miles
I also heard that in 2002 the chassis was stiffened, but I don't know if this applied to the cabrios too.
Must have options for me were:
HID/Xenon/Litronic headlights
Heated seats
Carrera 4
(these are because I plan to drive all year round through snow or rain or heat or gloom of night)
Good luck!
my 2:
Get a 2002, best 996 year, all of the updates, but no MOST bus for the radio.
Find one with heated seats, no matter where you live!
Other useful options:
PSE
PSM
backup sensors
full leather
Bi-xeon lights
18" Carrera wheels
SSK
I bought a 2000 and love it, but...if it's in your budget, go 2002 for all of the reasons listed above and try to get a CPO car - RMS, other major mechanical issues, and the top's motors will all be covered.
Here's another tip learned from hard experience. Before you go test drive the car, download the manual from renntech.org and read it. Almost all the tools and manuals were missing from my car when I bought it. You have to educate yourself what is supposed to come with the car so you know when it's missing.
Key items include:
Hardtop removal tool
Headlight removal tool
Locking lug socket
Plastic covers for the hardtop latch and the holes where the hardtop pins go
Tool Kit
Air compressor if you have the collapsible spare (C4 and C4S)
Heated seat are great. If you don't find the car you want with them you can add them. I put them in my car with the faqctory parts, cost approx $700 plus my own labor (4+ hrs.).
Also, look for HiFi package. Stereo still isn't great, but you can upgrade and it has the door speaker enclosures.
Good luck!!!
you need heated seat...even when living in CA....and it is to bad you can't put the glass window in the back of the older models...I have a 99 and don't realy like the plastic rear window....than again I never drive with the top closed anyway.....
