In fact, I just heard from a member that when he washed his car the new 3rd light filled with water.

I am pleased to report that the smoked center light I got from Sharky to replace the leaky one is perfect.

I spoke to Gert@Carnewal and he was saying he hadn't heard of that happening yet but we've had two from a batch of 30 so far do that so I'm just replacing those ones.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm not normally into "bling" but the European folks (cheers Gert!) do it right and I got in a fresh shipment of these lil' 3rd brake lights. My gasket was all messed up (thank to the long hot summers) anyways so I am putting one on.

Do these things show red when you're on the brakes, or is it "smoked or silver" ? If it's not red it sounds like a ticket magnet, at least here in CA........
Yes, they show very RED, moreso than the factory light IMHO. I got the smoked version for my car (Slate Grey). LOOKS AWESOME. I dont have a pic handy, but will try to hunt one down....Install was easy, about 2 minutes....highly recommended...
Me either Sharky....but as you said, it looks great...blends right in on my car. No more BIG UGLY RED lens! IMHO, the smoked version looks very similar on my car to the "clear" sidemarkers I put on (see sig photo). A great match for slate grey.
When are you picking up yours Doug?
Also here it is on a GT3 today... So I have these in stock and I've tested them on ALL 996s, 996TTs and GT2s and GT3s now
Heya folks a few of you asked me to post some pics of the smoked 3rd brake light on a black car and also in the "on" and "off" scenarios so here ya' go.. See those nice red LEDs...
hey kristap... I'll get a pic later today but all the seal grey cars we've done we've put the smoked/clear one on. It just seems like a better fit all the way around since it matches the side markers and the rear tail lights... The silver one.. is um.. VERY silver
Hi there kevin.. it's VERY easy to install and comes with instructions. Can be done in about 5 minutes on a 996...
The price is 115 plus shipping. Just drop me an Email to order one.
Cheers!
Hello All
New to this board as I just purchased a '99 Arctic Silver C2 that I have been waiting for for a long time!
Wondering what color would look best with my car- silver i am guessing but would love suggestions.
Thanks!
I have heard and word has it that the quality isn't very good on these 3rd lites. In fact, I just heard from a member that when he washed his car the new 3rd light filled with water.

Alex, The light looks great! Now when my tail is up the red one looks like crap! My wife told me to buy another one. Please send me an invoice. AND Thanks for the Bonus GIFT!!!!!!!
Steve
Hi Steve,
Glad you liked it! LOL I had a few people say they wanted a "second" one for that purpose! Talk about bling!
No worries on the Tee... White or grey
?
Hi, If you plan to keep your stock rear retractable tail you better plan on buying two of these. Once you raise your tail and see that RED "bling" you are not going to like it. I even considered clear for the spoiler for a second?? I think the clear would look nice on light silver cars and especially my favorite exterior color=WHITE ( I just bought my 3rd black p-car). Someday I will not be so impulsive and get what I really want=SEAL GREY!!
Alex, a grey shirt is great.
thanks,
Steve
Hi Lee,
Sorry that happened to yours. Sometimes being hand-made isn't the best thing! I did send an Email to Gert and it seemed like only a few were that way luckily
Sorry for making you wait and install twice.
Cheers!
