I checked with Weissach and they claim that their accelerator pedal can be pushed closer to the floor allowing for a significant HP gain (20-30 RWHP) compared to stock.
Leading evidence: 'Check with weissach and they claim' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). In fact, while I know that I have the stock pedal set on my current 356 race car, I could not tell you if I am using the bare metal or rubber pads on the pedals unless I went out to the garage and looked.

Suggestion
It's not the raw numbers the pedals will gain you on a dyno that is important, it's how you use the pedals on the track.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm looking at getting some aftermarket pedals, but I have not seen any in person. My car will not be tracked and I usually wear dress shoes with some type of rubber composite sole (mostly Ecco brand). It rains a fair bit where I live and I don't want my shoes slipping all over the aluminum pedals. So here are my questions?
Should I even consider getting aluminum pedals or will my feet slide around too much?
What type of pedals do you like and why?
I have looked online at Gemballe, Sportec, RUF, and a few others that I can't remember. Thanks in advance for your replies! Up close pictures are appreciated if you have any.
The mods continue! SmartTOP is in the mail.
These are excellent.

They have rubber dots that really help with grip. I have used them both on the road and on the track (including in the rain) and I have never had a problem.
For the sake of clarification, I want to point out that the pedals Gert sells at Carnewal ARE the RUF pedals without the RUF logo stamped on the pedal.
Thanks for the feedback. I couldn't tell that the RUF pedals had the rubber dots (they just looked like holes) from the internet pictures. I like the fact that the finish matches the Porsche interior aluminum color.
On the other hand, take a look at a 2005 GT3 Cup car or GT3RSR. They come with what Porsche feels is the ultimate clutch and brake pedals. The same ones your car came with stock.
Jim
Aren't the Carnewal pedals the same as those being sold at
www.weissach.com?
Also they are the same as Ruf without the logo. I love Gert and his service but I would buy the lowest cost with shipping.
Hey now Jim,
You know full well that the aluminum pedals are good for a minimum 10-15 hp increase and better throttle response. Why else would all of us have bought them?
TD
Yeah, I think they are. That is what I was suggesting in my post explaining that Gert's are basically RUF pedals. Gert has been getting killed by the exchange rate.
Thanks for the feedback. Has anyone looked at
ultimatepedals.com
They have various finishes and can leave the surface smooth or textured and can place the rubber dots that are rounded or flat on the surface. They can also add the Porsche Crest on the footrest.
Hmmmmmm. Should I dare to be different? There is a money back guarantee and one member spoke very highly of them on the 997 thread.
Believe it or not, I have them on my 944 track car. They work great. I don't think they look as nice as the carnewal/ruf pedals. Of course, on the track car, I don't care about that. If you do go for their pedals, don't get the rubber dots. They are unnecessary. The crosshatching on the pedals is very sticky.
i bought the ones for carnewal. I really like them. I also bought the dead pedal which i probably wouldnt by again b/c it is almost too much of an aluminum look.
I have the rennline pedals in mine and think they are great for the price. More than half the price of most of the others brands. Sorry, don't have pictures to post now though.
So I have a question for you.
I have been racing now for 16 years. Formula Vee, Formula Ford, E30 endurance cars, Shelby GT-350, Porsche 356. I have never thought to myself: if I just had some cool pedals, my lap times would go down, and my margin of safety would increase. In fact, while I know that I have the stock pedal set on my current 356 race car, I could not tell you if I am using the bare metal or rubber pads on the pedals unless I went out to the garage and looked. The reason I don't know is: it doesn't make a bit of difference.
So, my question is: What, exactly, do you expect to gain by spending money on aluminum pedals?
I strongly suggest you put the dough into the brake pad fund, because that is where you will see some quantifiable gains. Cool pedals only help you go faster at cocktail parties and on internet boards.
Ub
Yeah Uber XY that just goes to show what you know. It is a fact that pedals result in at least 10-15% HP gains. You just don't know what you are missing
He's probably making fun of me for putting them on a race car as much or more than he is making fun of you. Hell, I make fun of myself for the same reason.
The 44 had a rubber accelerator pedal that actually flexed when you mashed it. To me, that just added insult to the injury I already felt when I moved from 325 to 150 hp
The pedals just made it "feel" faster.
I'm thinking about attending the PDE and joining PCA and trying a DE.
Maybe then if I start racing, I will dyno my car with the stock and with the aluminum pedals and post my data! My guess is about 10-15 hp
I ordered pedals from Weissach today. Thanks for all of your input and help.
I checked with Weissach and they claim that their accelerator pedal can be pushed closer to the floor allowing for a significant HP gain (20-30 RWHP) compared to stock.
dmac: Please post pics once you install the pedals. I'm contemplating ordering the same set. I sure like the fact you can get the gas pedal closer to the floor... why didn't Porshce think of this in the first place...
Thanks!
O.K. I want to increse my H.P. also. I think the metal pedals look cool, but are there any pedals made out there that make it a little bit easier to heel and toe? It seems to me that on my recently aquired 2002 C2, the gas pedal sits to low compared to the brake??? Am I wrong? My brit cars all seem to be set up right. Don't the germans heel and toe??? Or are there feet much larger?
Tom L.
The Carnewal ones are the only ones we sell... They are so much better than the others (price includes the dead pedal also)
