my remote is acting very erraticly (not working sometimes, having very low range) - and a few days ago it stopped working completely and i have had to manually use the key since changing the battery did not work.

So my remote was becoming erratic and finally stopped working. I replaced the battery and now the button glows when I press the remote but does not unlock/lock door. I tried the owners manual instruction to unlock the door and then try to enable the remote, with no luck. Searching the forum revealed a suggestion to clean the contacts with alchohol, which did not help either. The other remote key is temporarily unavailable. Any one have any ideas short of having the dealer reprogram the key?

I dont have the answer but I am afraid I'm about to have the same problem.. my remote is acting very erraticly (not working sometimes, having very low range) - and a few days ago it stopped working completely and i have had to manually use the key since changing the battery did not work. The key FOBs are pathetic. Germans don't do electronics...they do beer. There are some reset things to try: Put the battery in backwards for 15 seconds and then reinstall correctly

No result from flipping the key, flipping the battery for 3 seconds, fuses are intact. I have an appointment at the dealer for friday. Thanks for the advice everyone.

So I found the other remote and that one works, so the problem must be the electronics in the first remote. Hopefully the dealer will replace under warranty.
