But I am fooling my self if a modern Porsche is my dream, the 993 is probably the best of the aircooled, but wait, I really love 356, but I remember falling in love with the 928 in the late seventies.....on second thought, I remember the beautiful picture of the red 930 on our fireplace mantel back in the 80s until my wife said it had to go...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quiet day at work? Let's have some fun. What's your favorite non-996 Porsche? It can be a certain model, a specific car, a special edition, etc. It just needs to be a Porsche. I'd give a teste for a Singer car.

POST 2Original post

Mine is the good old 928...because of its cool factor in the movies Risky Business and Weird Science. Very formative and i always catch myself browsing 928 ads.

POST 5Original post

904. I enjoyed my '69 European 911S -- but a fellow from WV took me for a ride in his 904 with a 3 liter IROC, dual plug engine. Words do not describe. As he said, he liked the 4 cylinder. Went to a 2.5 911S engine which was better. But the IROC engine finally scared him. Car had beautiful lines, but lowered? If you ran over a beer can, you could feel it all the way down the car. Whew.

POST 6Original post

A lot of the race cars are on my list. 904s and 962s are probably what I lust for the most. But, of course, what I can afford is this:

POST 7Original post

Man...this is a super hard question...I do like them all. However, my first gut reaction is my 997.2 but then I would have to say the GT3RS version would be even better. But I am fooling my self if a modern Porsche is my dream, the 993 is probably the best of the aircooled, but wait, I really love 356, but I remember falling in love with the 928 in the late seventies.....on second thought, I remember the beautiful picture of the red 930 on our fireplace mantel back in the 80s until my wife said it had to go... .....aw hell, who asked this crazy question anyway....I am so confused.

POST 8Original post

Wow that is a good question. The Singer for a testie is a good pic. In that same vein I might have Magnus Walker build me one. Pics = http://tinyurl.com/co4gudw [IMG] [/IMG]

POST 10Original post

KC beat me to it, I would definitely have a Magnus Walker esque 911. This is a 68 R, and I would give a lot to have one...probably more than is logical.

POST 11Original post

long hood with a ducktail Or if $$ no limit 917

POST 12Original post

Two more pics, because if you don't love this car, then you don't love America

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 10101700

Yeah, cause nothing says America like a German car rebuilt by a British guy, lol. BTW, I agree one hundred percent!

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 10101726

I have the axis of evil in my garage...germany japan and italy!

POST 16Original post

I've got 2 out of 3 of the Axis, The Italian space will remain open until I can afford a 458...which won't be anytime soon, but a guy can dream right?

POST 17Original post

If money is no object I'll take a Lowenbrau 962 any day...

POST 18Original post

Definitely agree on Magnus Walker....I love his artistic twist...

POST 19Original post

This, because I used to have a 750 GT Zagato: This, because it's the SR-71 of cars: This, because I could actually afford it & I LOVE the way it looks:

POST 20Original post

I will take one of the more modern classics: 993 GT2 Clubsport

POST 21Original post

Has everyone forgotten about the 550 Spyder? Now that's a sexy machine!

POST 24Original post

Too many to choose but if I had to pick a street car, probably a 993 Turbo... I even have a print of this ad hanging in my garage. As for race car options, definitely a 904. -Eric

POST 25Original post

I'd be quite happy with either the '13 Boxster S or a '13 Cabriolet.

POST 29Original post

if it were me, it had to be the 935 Moby Dick - that was one of the first toy cars my dad got me - maybe that's what got me interested into Porsches right from my childhood The other car that I always had a thing for is the 959 - it was loaded with all the coolest stuff that existed at that point of time (I wasn't even born then ) It looked slightly different from a regular Porsche, yet has the genes somewhere in there.

POST 30Original post

For a non race car and something that I could actually own someday. Older - 930 Newer - 997 GT3 RS

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 10102633

Love the color of this RS. What is it?

POST 32Original post

^ I believe is the stock factory color. Called "Grey Black"

POST 33Original post

I'd go with the 959 or possibly a Schuppan 962 CR just because

POST 34Original post

In order of desirability (and streetability) 904 959 any 911SC (mine went 375,000+ before giving up the ghost)

POST 35Original post

My favorite that I have owned and built was my 78 930 RSR/934. Andial built my engine with all the goodies.

POST 36Original post

The 917 or 962 for me. I've seen the 962 Lowenbrau with Al Holbert (RIP) and Derek Bell at Road America back in the 80's. That car just drips badassness!

POST 37Original post

930 Turbo or maybe a 993 GT2. Hmm... a 959 would be a dream.

POST 40Original post

Wow what a great post. So many beautiful classics. I feel like I just got a history lesson. Since I'm a noob and haven't driven any classics, I would have to say the 2013 991S that I drove today. 400 hp with PDK and paddle shifters is crazy fun. When the 50th Anniversary Edition comes out, it will be my favorite I'm sure. My bucket list has on it the 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th and 50th AE's. That will be some garage!

POST 41Original post

Quotes source post: 10105792

I love your plan! For me, I want to own all seven generations...after this post I can see that I wasn't thinking big enough. :-) you all listed some real beauties and made me realize I got to keep working!

POST 42Original post

Not sure if this is strictly a Porsche, but since the Singers made the cut, I don't see why not. I would be prepared to go air cooled for a Ruf CTR2

POST 45Original post

Hmmm, difficult to choose.... and newer ('10 or '11) GT3 or a GT3RS, black, of course, black wheels, steel brakes, but probably not a GT3RS 4.0.(black or white)

POST 46Original post

The only hybrid for me: 918 Spyder for a Racecar: GT1

POST 47Original post

Boy that is a toss up between a red or black 930 slant nose or a 928.. Yes I said 928

POST 51Original post

My other favorite Porsche... is my wife's 968... "Bluebell"

POST 53Original post

I like the little green one. Its cute but my choice would be the orange one. lol

POST 55Original post

i forgot to mention the factory pink 964 rs. that's pretty much up there...

POST 56Original post

993 GT2 http://yo.spc.free.fr/2010/Photos_ne...993GT2_Evo.jpg

POST 57Original post

The 1993/1994 911 Turbo 3.6...it's the best looking 911 ever made IMHO. You Tube Oh yeah, and the CGT ain't too bad either...

POST 58Original post

DreamCarrera, those are my thoughts exactly! '94 3.6 turbo (Black/Black) Fayence Yellow CGT

POST 59Original post

Aside from teh dream cars, a 964. tempted to sell my 40th in a few years and get a 964 instead

POST 60Original post

See picture left, ironically I was going to replace it with the 996, but I like them both, both great fun and very different cars, so now instead of changing to a more practical Porsche I have two (partner not impressed, she wanted me to sell the 928 before the 996 come along :-) )

POST 61Original post

Quotes source post: 10102031

Love this car. Can you tell me a bit more about it? Any more pictures?

POST 63Original post

POST 64Original post

Where would that 6th gear come from? To me a 928 CS (Club Sport) would do it. Pretty much the Great White Buffalo of the 928s.

POST 66Original post

I'd go back to the 928. Specifically a 1995 GTS 5speed

POST 67Original post

Quotes source post: 10379774

Take out the reverse gear and put an extra forward gear for full race?

POST 68Original post

I think an early-ish 356 Roadster is my favorite. I'd love to have one of these. (if I ever had enough time, money, and garage space)

POST 69Original post

Soo Many to choose from, if I win the lottery I will need a barn to warehouse the generations or Porsche. 1949 Porsche 356 Coupe 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder 1957 Porsche 356a Roadster 1973 Porsche 911 RS 1987 Porsche 959 1997 993 Turbo S 2011 997.2 Turbo S 2012 GT3 RS 4.0 Throw in a Mayhem, RWB and Singer modified car and I think my collection would be complete. Each one is very good looking, and equally iconic in its own right, The only way I could chose between what is on my list would be what my bank balance allows.

POST 70Original post

Quotes source post: 10119180

I think that's always the case, but I laughed at the idea that I would go without a Porsche for any period of time while I look around for a new one.

POST 71Original post

So many to choose from but in the end it's the 550

POST 72Original post

Older Air - 356 A, 87-89 911 Older Water - 928 Current - Cayman Race - 917/10
