Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I checked with a dealer and was told as long as they are both 996 then there should be no need to change any hardware.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hi Guys
So I have an opportunity to get a hard top for my 911 cabriolet. I have a MY99 and its an Ocean Blue metallic. The seller has a hard top from a 2003 Midnight Blue metallic. And its a great price!!
I saw some pictures that he sent me and it looks like my car color.
Before I go and see it, and pull my car from storage to take it to the seller and try on the top, is it worth my while to spend the time?
Seller no longer has his car so cannot privide me the codes from the frunk.
What do u guys think? I dont want it to look wierd, driving around with a two tone blue Porsche.
Also, they are both 996 so I expect the top should fit with no issues?
Thanks.
The color is quite different. Midnight Blue Metallic is L39C. I've had my car parked next to an Ocean Blue Metallic car before, and it's quite noticable.
Whether it's worth it or not however, is entirely up to you...
You will probably have to change the rear mounting hardware, but that's not a big deal.
If it's a good price, just live with the difference for the winter and get it painted in the spring. A hardtop makes a big difference.
Thanks guys. I checked with a dealer and was told as long as they are both 996 then there should be no need to change any hardware. If I do, any idea of the approximate cost?
Also, any idea of what the cost would be to get it resprayed to my car color spec?
If I can get a good enough deal, I might just jump on it.
The hardtop I have is a different shade of blue than my car. It's not really noticeable unless you know to look for it or the light shines on it a certain way.
It bothers me at times but no one else really notices. I'll consider getting it resprayed in time but for now it's not a priority item.
Respray can be expensive. Check the hardware as there are two different versions. I believe anything after 03 or 04 used the screw post where prior models used the posts with the pin throuch them that only turn a quater turn or so. do asearch for the photos for comparison. There are plenty of posts here.
I bought my matching top for 300. Shippiing is at least that much. Your call.
