Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New to me 2004 C4S. No after-market radio, etc. Quiet, stock exhaust, no mods, IMS done, mostly sound, Tip. Driving in SoCal @ 119F, through NV & UT, pretty much the same temp. Engine fine, needle on left 1/3 of 180-zero. Get out for lunch get back in, turn key beeps both signals going, no start, wants seat belt. Reach for diver seat belt, it is all the way retracted, and it is locked - jammed, won't pull. $***, etc. Lock car again, open with key, foot on brake, same. Try again, this time engine starts, OK to "D", seat belt lights and stuff still with bells. I finally think about it and jam the passenger seat belt in, lights go away. Now, open car, very quick beeping, seat belt lights/warning. Passenger belt still in driver spot. Car starts, OK in "D"-etc, driver seat belt still locked or jammed.. Check front trunk, down and locked, check rear lid, down and locked, check center cubby, down and locked, windows up. No clue why seat belt locked. In the meantime, nearly out of gas. At gas station, car open, doors, window, engine off. Gas cover lid won't open. F***this. Lock, unlock car, close doors, repeat, 2-3 times. No deal. Screw it, It is small rubber coated pin that is supposed to move in/out gas cover lid. Pull it open anyway. Gas up. Nothing changes on gas lid next 2 fill-ups and so on. Same with seat belt locked. Any clues? TIA for any assistance. . .

POST 3Original post

There is a manual release for the gas cap lid on the passenger side door jamb. A little cable pull...

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I see folks refer to Durametric scanner. Others like DeJeeper recommend a Foxwell that comes with Porsche specific info. Any thoughts on which one to buy? @DBJoe996 Thanks for the tip on cable-pull for gas lid.

I have both. Hands down, the Durametric is the more robust diagnostic scanner for these cars and the closest thing to the PIWIS.
