Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I did have the RMS and IMS replaced with the upgraded RMS and LN Engineering IMS.
Leading evidence: 'Replace with the upgraded rms and ln engineering ims' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace with the upgraded rms and ln engineering ims' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I must be sick, because I continue to research my next p-car even after just under one year of p-car ownership. It's not out of CPO warranty until 11/2011, but I am already thinking of a 997 with a CPO next November.
Will this ever end? Hopefully not, because half of the fun of cars is in the search.
Maybe a 2005/6 with CPO for $35k in one year, then another 2 years (when CPO expires), move to a 2009 with CPO. Yeah always a car payment, but it's similar to leasing except it's cheaper in many cases since the biggest chunk of the depreciation is gone. Of course a 5-7 year old car will continue to depreciate, but not like the first 2-3 years.
I could keep the 996 and do LN IMS bearing, clutch, and other bits while in their for $2-3K, but be without warranty. Or buy an aftermarket warranty for $3-4k, but why not just get another CPO car vs. paying $3-4k for that (assuming the 997s keep dropping $6-8k per year as they have been on average).
Am I nuts or do many of you have the same problem?
Is it your daily driver is the big question? From the looks of your list, it's a weekender. If it is your daily, knowing you can drop your car off at the dealer or Indy and be done, not worrying about what it's going to cost you (Warranty) is a great feeling. If it's your weekend car or fun car, having it out of service for a few days while you decide what action to take isn't so bad. I personally have an "03" 996 that's exclusively used as a fun weekend, nice weather car. I have no warranty left on it and it doesn't bother me at all! I did have the RMS and IMS replaced with the upgraded RMS and LN Engineering IMS. My RMS had a very slow leak, but I decided to get it all done while they were in there. I would say drive the car, enjoy the hell out of it! You have 24,300 miles on it! Hasn't even been broken in. I only have 37,000 on mine and plan to keep it forever! So many people on here worry about warranty, IMS, RMS. I vote keep it and save your money from swapping cars or aftermarket warranty. That's just my opinion.
Good luck
I'm on Porsche No. 6 and already thinking about No. 7 although I may skip the 997's. I drove a 964 a few weeks ago for a first time potential owner and I got the same feeling, sitting position, smells as I did with my old 993. It conjures up visions of adding extra garage space. I've never let CPO become a deciding factor as most of my Porsche's have been weekend cars, although I understand the thought.
I can assure you that your local Porsche dealer agrees whole heartedly with your strategy.
My issue is that I want to keep my 996 and buy some others so this one doesn't get lonely....
