Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had my 2002 Targa for nearly 2 years this December. Am in CPO ext. warranty program and have tried to get a fix before warranty expires. From day one have had a sporadic rattle from right front wheel well area. On certain road conditions and with different weights in the car (pax/no pax), it can be quite pronounced to non-existent (and always hard to duplicate at the dealer). Slightly bumpy roads make it pronounced. Steering column feel and linkage seem loose when it does this. The dealer has worked on the area in the past. They replaced the Master Control Arm, torqued nuts, etc. and still rattles.. sounds metal to metal. The dealer gave up this last time.. they hear it sometimes and then don't on other rides. Any suggestions or similar situations? Help! Thanks.

POST 3Original post

In addition to checking the drop link, I would check the upper strut mount. Had the same clunking/banging sound on mine and it was the strut mounts both sides.
