Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Run catch can full time' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect line and routing instead' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I never had much luck with catch cans with the audis...allways ran a similiar to stock pancake configuration, different engines of course but similiar applications.

What are the ramifications of disconnecting the line and routing instead to a catch tank, even if only for during track use?

After any track use however, I always need to disconnect the upstream hose to the intercooler and drain a couple of tablespoons of oil from the hose and from the bottom of the intercooler.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 02 996 with the EVO supercharer system. Works wonderfully well on the street. After any track use however, I always need to disconnect the upstream hose to the intercooler and drain a couple of tablespoons of oil from the hose and from the bottom of the intercooler. I believe the oil fumes from this collection also migrate upstream and dirty the MAF resulting in CEL's.
I understand the AOS dumps into the intake and in stock configuration any oil flows through and is combusted. But with the s/c set-up it gets trapped at the low point of the lengthy intake plumbing. What are the ramifications of disconnecting the line and routing instead to a catch tank, even if only for during track use? Does this throw off the vaccum balance to the engine? Has anyone tried this or other approaches?
Also I'd be interested to hear of any approaches to duct cold air to the air filter which is tucked way up the right side of the engine bay.
Thanks
I run a catch can full time.... no ill affects on vacuum since this is the crank case vent vs intake vacuum (before the S/C).... I plan to re-place the routing from the intake to a vent to atmosphere via oil filter while doing DE this summer... curios which one will work better.... for street though, vent going to the intake is best since I have state inspection in a month.
Catch can or a vw/audi pancake valve will work, the pancake valve allows vapors to pass and makes it difficult for actual oil to flow out. I never had much luck with catch cans with the audis...allways ran a similiar to stock pancake configuration, different engines of course but similiar applications.

I had my crank case breathing directly into this back into the intake....very little oil in hoses, alot less than the catch can I was running.
Going to install one on my friends VR6 Turbo next week since he is having issues with the catch can setup.
