Check engine light code 1539 indicating the right bank cam solenoid is not working on my 1999 Cab. I don't know why yet, it idles and drives normally, what result can I expect if I continue driving until I can get it fixed? Bob

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

So I have quit driving it and it's time to get it fixed.

If it is a failing soleniod the idle will get rough if it sticks foward or u wont get the advance at the higher rpm (low power). Either way the motor is not doing what the computer wants. It can compensate some but its not ideal. I would say its fine to drive it home or to a shop but i would not be daily driving it until its fixed.
So I have quit driving it and it's time to get it fixed. It seems that the solenoid can be energized with a 9V battery. This would be a method of diagnosis to isolate the problem. Can anyone guide me on this procedure? Thanks, Bob
