Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I also replaced the 5 watt halogen DRL bulbs with 3 watt LumiLeds and used an inexpensive plastic collimator lens.
Leading evidence: 'Replace 5 watt halogen drl bulbs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 5 watt halogen drl bulbs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Although I have a US car I was wondering if anyone knows of a plug in relay that would create daytime running lights from the system installed.

Both ideas presented, which I appreciate and may yet use, are at full power.....

It is an interconnect using energy from the ignition to the realy to turn on the lights.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Although I have a US car I was wondering if anyone knows of a plug in relay that would create daytime running lights from the system installed. Some other makers wire all the cars they make for them but only install the realy in cars going to a country that requires them. It is an interconnect using energy from the ignition to the realy to turn on the lights. Canada might have the answer....Thanks....
don't know about the 996 but the 993 is missing the wires to the relay so you have to wire it up or use a jumper in the fuse box.
here is a hack for the 996
http://www.blogcatalog.com/search.fr...2b5e488ad3a30f
this turns on the headlights to full on, not some reduced voltage like in real DRL's - correct?
will this work with litronics as well?
thanks
(this might kill 2 birds with one stone for me: failing light switch and DRL
)
Not sure if it's the same on 993's but in 968's, everything is prewired and all you have to do is pop in a relay, as you suggested.
This makes the foglights stay on all the time, not the actual headlights.
Hope that helps.
Regards.

Fog lights are not appropriate for DRLs since that have a low and wide beam pattern. High beams at reduced voltage is the "chosen" technique since they have the greatest forward visibility for oncoming drivers.
The link scubadawg posted tells you everything you need to know. Jumper the hot side of the heated seat fuse to the litronics, the halogens, the fog lights..whatever you want to light up when you turn the ignition on.
That's how I got past my federal inspection when I imported a US 996 into Canada. Then I took it all out again and now I operate the lights with the switch so the lights are on when I want them to be on, and off when I want them to be off.
Call me a control freak!
