Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Thanks guys, turned out to be a bad regulator on the new alternator.
Leading evidence: 'regulator' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'regulator' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check each time' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I replaced both the alternator and the battery in my car after the alternator seemed to fail.

Suggestion
If things are looking ok start replaing fuses one at a time, checking each time to see if this impacts volts.

Suggestion
u need to check the excite wire on the back of the alternaotr should have 12v with the key on if you dont have battery voltae there the alt will not have output

Suggestion
If you've checked the main power feeds, and they are ok, then it's got to be something else that killing your Volts.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I replaced both the alternator and the battery in my car after the alternator seemed to fail. Now I can see the car losing battery power, even when on, its not getting ~13V.
Any suggestions on where else to look? A relay or a fuse perhaps?
FEW things u can check
check the power lead on the pass side of the engine compartment under the lil flip door make sure its clean and tight
theres another junction in the trans tunnel under another lil flip cover if they get coroded u will see low output i have seen it especially on northern cars
lastly
u need to check the excite wire on the back of the alternaotr should have 12v with the key on if you dont have battery voltae there the alt will not have output
u also could have a bad alternator....new ones have been bad before it wouldnt be the first
Nothin. Car is still on it's way out, runs at like 11.9 volts and falling. Half my idiot lights are on, and all the terminals test okay, including the one behind the alternator.
Please don't tell me my month old porsche is f@@@ed.
theres not anything else in the system
as long as u have 12v to the excite wire on the alt
and theres no loose connections on + cable junctions and the - side is clean and tight at the battery
and at the pass side cyl head to body .
u shoud have output
if you already changed the alternator and pulled it to check the excite wire i would pull it again and take the alt to somwehre that can test it for u
So if you already replaced the battery and alternator, it's very unlikely that the new alternator is the issue (possible but unlikely)
If you've checked the main power feeds, and they are ok, then it's got to be something else that killing your Volts.
You probably have a short or failing electronic component.
Suggestion:
Pull all fuses - make sure you note which goes where.
With enough fuses in to start the car (fuel pump etc etc) start the car and measure Volts as before.
If things are looking ok start replaing fuses one at a time, checking each time to see if this impacts volts.
This should allow you to isolate the problem area, and you can then diagnose further.
Hope this helps.
Chris.
"u also could have a bad alternator....new ones have been bad before it wouldnt be the first "
Brad is right I got a rebuilt alternator once that was bad!!It drives you crazy they have an inspection tag on them with all kinds of good numbers, but they don't work!! gotta wonder who is testing them.
There is one on the pass side of the engine compartment above the ac compressor. The other is above the transmission towards the engine. What kind of problems are you having?
