I think that somewhere in 2001-2002MY Porsche changed the mount for the rear view mirror to a larger diameter mounting tab (glued to the center of the window).

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yeah, I think it's the same. Get it installed by a repuatable shop as the antenna is embedded. Some times windshield will rattlle too so have the installed use plenty of silicon and replace the gasket if it's not too expensive.
Before you jump in with both feet I might suggest that you verify the size of the rear view mirrior mount. I think that somewhere in 2001-2002MY Porsche changed the mount for the rear view mirror to a larger diameter mounting tab (glued to the center of the window). Earlier this year I bought a later model electronic rear view mirror off ebay only to find that it had the larger mount and will not fit my 99 with the small mounting tab. I also bought a 99 windshied (but haven't installed it yet)....and unfortunately it has the small mount as well. I'd probably entertain a trade if the windshield you have in mind has the larger mount.

If the mount is differnt, you can just pry it off and reattach the new one right? Those are glued. Othrewise, I've seen adaptors for the mount which will make it larger.
for djantive-- I would consider trying to pry the old one off and reglue a new and larger mount to my windshield. Two questions.....Can you give me the part number for the larger mount?....and Can you tell me where to find the adapter that you spoke of?
Thanks
Guys, yesterday I changed the windshield. Fitted perfectly. Chrisp3 was right, the rear view mounting was different as the new windshield had the rain sensor mount. The guy at the shop did a great job painting the windshield, now as it is installed, you can't notice the difference.
Thanks for all the help!
Painting the windshield? What's that?
For the adaptor, they are available at local auto supply stores. You may have to get a mirror to get the adaptor as they may not be sold separately. Check the size before you buy though. Of course, you can pry the old attachment off the windshield and reglue a new one as well. I'm not sure how easy these things come off and if you have to heat it to soften the glue. Any auto glass shop should be able to give you advice though.
