Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Mine does not do that , it could be a sending unit, I would get that checked, I would want to know its working just in case i see it drop to zero on one of my hard driving days....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2000 C2 Cab, with 55k miles on it. Just yesterday, when I first started the car, as soon as I started driving, the oil pressure gauge pegged above five and does not go down no matter what the RPM's. Temp and oil levels are fine. Any idea what this might be? Can driving cause significant damage? Thanks, Scott

POST 2Original post

at least mine always does. then it calms down as the engine oil warms up.

POST 3Original post

Mine does not do that , it could be a sending unit, I would get that checked, I would want to know its working just in case i see it drop to zero on one of my hard driving days....

POST 4Original post

Mine does the same until it reached operating temperature and that it hovers around 3.5 if I am driving easy and up to 5 if I am driving hard.

POST 5Original post

Scott, If you think the issue might be your oil pressure sender than turn the key ignition ON but don't start the car. If everything is working properly the oil pressure should read zero but if there is a problem with sender unit or the wiring or the gauge your oil pressure reading should peg to five instantly.
