Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Once the thing is puller out all the way, you disconnect the chrome cap easily.

Suggestion
Since I like it I would have called that the experimental set, removed, ordered a new set, cut PERFECTLY, and installed.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Seems like some people were interested in my headlight cover, from another thread and I figure other might be interested as well.
I had ordered those headlight cover form eBay a while back and after sitting on the shelf for a few month I decided to give them a shot. The install is not that easy, at least not without a heat gun. I used a hairdryer so the middle had some bubble I could not get rid off, so I decided to simply cut the middle part and make a nice oval, 997 style, in the middle.
If you wondered, the fog light are useless once the film is applied, so if you were thinking about leaving the film over the headlight projector, think again. I did not open mine for that reason but in the end I am glad I did, look wise and to keep my headlight functional.
So fire your comment away, love it - hate it - like it ...
I like it...and it may be the better way to cover my headlights which are slightly yellowed and I can't quite get the haze removed with headlight cleaner.
Is there an ebay store that sells these?
thanks for the positive comments
You can buy them on ebay, could not find any for sale at this time, but as I said, I think it might be worth investing in a better product such as
http://www.xpel.com/
The great thing is that the whole headlight assembly gets out of the car very easily so you can work on them in the comfort of your home and take your time.
If you attempt it, the only pain was to be able to apply the film on the headlight washers chrome caps. You really have to pull those on them super hard to get them moving. Be careful not to break them but for me they were pretty strong.
I pulled on the chrome part with my fingers, far enough so that I could grab the underlining piece of plastic, and then pull more on that piece which is much stronger. Once the thing is puller out all the way, you disconnect the chrome cap easily.
I actually wanted to hate it as I hate the 996 crowd trying to emulate the 997 lights. However, yours is very well done. My only complaint (and it's my OCD kicking in) is that the cut line is not as good as I would have wanted. Since I like it I would have called that the experimental set, removed, ordered a new set, cut PERFECTLY, and installed.
Well done
yeah I am really bummed as well that my cuts are not perfect.. but after fighting with the damned plastic film for a couple of hours, I decided to call it a day.
Even though I then glanced at the xpel film, hoping to do a better job with better material next time. But now that I have my new 19nch rims and my row suspension to install I think I should be busy for a little while before I attempt this again.
The best would be if someone would sell those film with the cut in the middle already done, but that might be impossible as the film need to be stretched to fit the non planar surface.
I like this. I think it would look better on a black car, and not as good on a silver car though. Anyone care to photoshop this mod onto a silver or black car?
I think a front license plate on a 911 is like a mustache on the Mona Lisa. I went through a DUI checkpoint recently and the cop said "you need to have a front plate sir". I reached into the back seat pouch and showed him that I had the plate and I would put it on. He was cool and let me drive on but I realize I will get a ticket one of these days. I will wait for the ticket
I think that looks great but would be even better if the film was opaque. Brian Bell in Dallas (don't remember his handle on this forum) did it to his silver car and I thought it looked great. I have the headlight covers from ebay and up close the fit looks terrible.
I really like your mods. and i think i can make to my porsche. But after i try to my silver porsche on this film in photoshop. But it isnt for me i think. This films looks good only black or dark grey porsches
.
I am sad about it
.
I tried to make this film on grey porsche on photoshop on my porsche
( i used 3 on because of my baad english )
what do you think all ? this is good or bad or middle
Big No No! Sorry.
On a black car I could see it looking best of course. But I still don't really like the mod.
These headlights need to be left alone in my opinion. But to each his own of course...
